I don't know if it's only me, but I've started to notice AFK players being in almost every match and sometimes it's more than one. Two days ago there were two afk players rght from the start and it turned out one more was afk after 3 minutes of camping and sniping in some Swedish TD. I'm starting to think that these new Ops and rewards attracted people back to WoT but not to play the game, only to collect some rewards. I mean requirement for free chest with some gold in it (among other things) is 75 wins. Could someone AFK it all the way? This was especially annoying during the x5 xp days. I believe I've played more than 20 consecutive games with AFK players  (red or green).

What is going on?

The 13. (Tiger) Kompanie, of Panzer Regiment Großdeutschland, reported on the performance of the 88 mm KwK 36 L/56, when their Tigers engaged the T-34: "First round hits were usually achieved at ranges between 800 to 1,000 meters. At these ranges, the Panzer Granate (they are referring to the PzGr. 39 APCBC ammunition) absolutely penetrated through the frontal armor, and usually still destroyed the engine at the rear of the T-34 tank. In 80 percent of the cases, shots from the same range hitting the side of the hull toward the rear of the tank resulted in the fuel tanks exploding. Even at ranges of 1,500 meters and longer, during favorable weather, it is possible to succeed in penetrating the T-34 with minimal expenditure of ammunition" (JENTZ, Thomas L.; Germany's TIGER Tanks - Tiger I and II: Combat Tactics; op. cit.).

I've noticed a lot,   I blame the long haul op.

Probably they need server numbers, so nothing has changed in the past 4+ years.  At least have 25 wins with a kill to be eligible for free stuff.

Dunno about others but people have probably thought I was afking recently but it was because the game crashed / kicked me out.

War is a Democracy and the enemy always gets a vote.

I have not noticed an up swing in AFK tanks. I do know this. If you happen to disconnect from game do to internet issues, be ready for hate mail.

Mostly true and sometimes I see they play other games or use services.

Had that yesterday and it was believe it or not 1 hour before the deadline for Long Haul Op (I was on 74 wins). I've had time for only two games, T34, top tier game on Fjords, everything looked good and then game crashed. I was probably blamed by my team for that defeat as afk, and it ended up being pretty close one.

Not a bad idea, they should add some additional condition so afk is no longer viable tactic for free chests.

They should realize that if they could actually help their teams out, they can win. Sadly, they are idiots and should be banned for life

Lag spikes and crashes can happen to anyone. I was so frustrated the other night that I even sent some messages to those afk idiots, and I rarely do that. I mean you have a solid game, you do your part, get balanced by arty, but you go with that feeling ''It's in good hands, how can they lose 5:2''. And then cold shower, you watch some teammates and tehy're not moving or shooting at all. Turns out the game wasn't 5:2 but only 3 barely alive greens agains 2 red campers and after they were erased, those last two afk idiots just served as a damage farm and stat pad boost for those reds.

And more than once I saw names repeating as afk, which is disgusting.

Hey Run, what if they segregate new player base of say less than 3 to 4k games and place same base of players who have higher # of games played? One reason could be a big chunk of traffic are new players with very little awareness

So, I have seen full health T32 taking a dive in a tier IX match in first 10 seconds, have seen Mauschen, Chieftain, Centurion, UDES as afk. Heck I even saw arty afk....thought those guys don't have to do much anyway.

That's another issue, non-afk players of the same value as afk.

Saw quite a few weekend and chasing wins, so gave up and drowned myself in ale.
