Commander Mode. 6 vs 10?

So, uhm, I just had my first go of this new commander mode thing.

 

Green team was 6 Tier VIIIs. Red team was 9 Tier VIIIs and 1 Tier X.

 

And one of green team didn't even load in. So it was 5 tanks vs 10 from the start.

 

Needless to say it lasted about 60 seconds.

 

 

Is there any reason at all to play this?

Assuming you picked tanker mode, it's 6 players vs 1 player with 8 or so AI tanks they can give orders to.

It's 6 Players (Tankers) against 1 Player (Commander) who controls 9 AI Bots.

I enjoy it. Not as much as multi-player, but still like it. Did you, or the majority of your team head straight for the base? I win more than I lose (in either mode) by staying in the hills opposite the city until I can determine which way the reds are moving. Also, while in Commander mode I try to focus all my fire on one tank at a time. I'm trying to kill a gun before it causes too much damage to any one of my tanks. Don't care if it's a light, heavy, TD, etc...

Now you have my attention. Why wasn't this aspect of it promoted more?

 

OP. I don't know how you lost. I tried it once, bots got steamrolled. Green lost maybe 2 tanks? Players> this level of bot.

I used to joke about WG doing this when the server pop hit rock bottom.  Never seriously thought it would happen.  Kudos for planning ahead.

it only took 2 minutes, but theres the answer

this mode offers nothing of value to the average tanker :(

It’s to give the commander a chance. The tankers have it very easy and the commander’s tanks don’t play smart and don’t aim for weak spots and don’t swarm/flank. It’s very very very easy as a tanker to win.

I really like this idea, and think it has potential to continue to evolve into something really cool.  The first two times I played this, against other commanders I could not lose!  Using bots to fight humans is super tough, though!  I have played both sides and it ended with ignoble defeat for the bots every time!  Bots cannot anticipate when an opponent is distracted, they do not rock their vehicles when being targeted, or even back off!  They are not good at going hull down unless the commander is an absolute beast and knows this map intimately well, and even then it would be extremely difficult to place the bot 'just so' to get hull down.  Don't get me wrong, these are not complaints, just observations, but I took merciless advantage of these things when playing against bots and could not figure out how to mitigate these things as a commander.  This mode really has the potential of showing players how a team can work together, covering the weaknesses of each other and multiplying their strengths, who knows? After playing this mode it may occur to some players the advantages of supporting their TDs and watching weak flanks!

Not a fan of commander mode.  While I appreciate the effort to add different aspects to the game this mode is just never going to be fun.

The bots just arent good enough to be useful to the human commander as it takes a fair bit of micromanagement to make them moderately effective and the console isnt the best platform to do that.  

Unless there's significant improvement in bot a.i this mode just wont be challenging for the tankers and frustrating for the commanders and just no fun for anyone.

Pretty easy to win either way, I have played probably 60% tankers and 40% commander and have only lost twice on each, it depends on the players rather than being outnumbered. I lost one of the commander ones where my tanks were not hitting anything and I only killed one tank where they killed all 10 of mine, another game I killed all the players within 1 minute of the game without losing a single tank.
