EDIT: As of January 22nd 6 maps are withdrawn from rotation. They are marked with ** next to their name.

 

 

Update Details - January 22th, 2019

Contents Adjustments:

  • Adding the M4A1 Revalorise back on the French Tech Tree
  • Removed the following maps from rotation until further notice to eliminate roughly 500 crashes per day
    • Live Oaks
    • Highway
    • Great Wall
    • Pearl River
    • Sacred Valley - (regular variant)
    • Severogorsk Snow

 

As the title says, poll about least preferred map. New year is getting close, and year ago I've posted a similar poll, but situation with maps in rotation was different then. Nine maps were out of rotation, and WG informed us that it's because they weren't popular among playerbase. At least that's what we were told as explanation. Results of that poll can be seen here. Thanks to everyone taking part in it.

According to the 2018 poll results, top 5 worst maps in rotation in 2018 are:

1. Ravaged Capital (it's a tie atm with Icebound)

2. Icebound (this one is in quarantine, but still hated)

3. Skorpion Pass (actualy 33% of votes in Desert map category, no.1 overall by that criteria)

4. Ardennes

5. Pacific Island (4th and 5th change place every now and then, close race)

 

New Year coming, new poll about the same thing. Maps are vital part of the game. Some changes happened along the way, few maps were put in ''quarantine'', like Berlin and Icebound, but these were full of bugs and frame rate in urban parts was very poor.

 

So, new poll will have similar structure as the old one, I will try to update it, map variants will not be in this poll, only basic variants. Exception to this rule are reskins of old maps popularly called ''Merc maps''. Reason for this lies in fact that these are not just weather or season variants of the same map. They are indeed changed with a lot of new objects and obstacles added and in some cases layout and balance of the maps is significantly changed.

 

Also new category of modified maps is added. They are based on some maps already existing in game but layout is changed and some maps are extended significantly.

 

All suggestions welcome as always, and now please take a minute and cast your votes.

(Tiger) Kompanie, of Panzer Regiment Großdeutschland, reported on the performance of the 88 mm KwK 36 L/56, when their Tigers engaged the T-34: "First round hits were usually achieved at ranges between 800 to 1,000 meters. At these ranges, the Panzer Granate (they are referring to the PzGr. 39 APCBC ammunition) absolutely penetrated through the frontal armor, and usually still destroyed the engine at the rear of the T-34 tank. In 80 percent of the cases, shots from the same range hitting the side of the hull toward the rear of the tank resulted in the fuel tanks exploding. Even at ranges of 1,500 meters and longer, during favorable weather, it is possible to succeed in penetrating the T-34 with minimal expenditure of ammunition" (JENTZ, Thomas L.; Germany's TIGER Tanks - Tiger I and II: Combat Tactics; op. cit.).

Legend:

* map currently out of rotation

U-urban variant

S-summer variant

W-winter variant

 

As mentioned in OP, map variants are not in poll. Instead original version of the map may have a mark next to its name (U/S/W), which means that it appears as more than one season/weather variant.

 

Also, I will take this opportunity to apologize to some fellow forumers for claiming that we don't have maps larger than 1000x1000m in game. There are at least two maps with size of 1200x1200m. Maybe even more, if you have more info I'll be glad to correct it. These are in new category of modified maps.

Panama map is introduced in the same package with reskins of maps, aka ''Merc'' maps. The reason why Panama is listed in different category is because this map is modified, with terrain features changed and layout of the map changed rather than reskin of existing map with only cosmetic and visual changes. Hence Panama is in category with other modified maps.

I think this is a great follow up to the thread about black listing maps .

 

It seems that it could be said that just about all 1944 vairants are disliked lol.

 

Would have been interested to pick you most played tier as well to get a idea of what tiers people hate playing on specific maps .

I voted in mind of playing my tier 10s which is mostly what I play these days .

Panama took a very entertaining map in Westfield and ruined not only the Southwest spawn entirely but also removing the critical town layout in the middle. Taking that town away turned it into two lanes with a no man's land in the middle and no cover. Absolute joke of a map.

I think the rock formations are the worst part of Panama, when you have to take immediate change of direction maneuvers soon as you spawn in to avoid being trapped.... well....

I voted at least one map per question as the question was "least preferred" map so to me "none of the above" was invalid as I am sure everyone has at least one they prefer the least.

I dunno, I guess I'm pretty easy. There are only a few maps that bother me at all, and they're mostly the tiny ones.

It is less of a problem if there is variety and a true rotation.   But I see we are back to Ghost Town 8 times a day. So I'm back to Wart hunter.

Ensk is far and away the worst map in the game. Nothing else really comes close, besides perhaps Ravaged Capital.

 

Why can’t they cause crashes and get fcuked off.....?! :(

Ardennes winter sucks because of the white out tree saturation, fjords is just 2 choke points so sucks bad, and monanhan? Needs the winter bumps smoothed out a little. And hidden villiage blows. But who the hell crashes bad on hyway, cant see a problem with that

Perhaps the development team can explain why map rotation is so hard to ballance and maintain a variety ???

I think the biggest problem is when you play at higher tiers and get small maps . When all spot all . When view range doesn't matter any more . The maps should be playable for all classes

Like the variety of maps in rotation and how they are re skinning old maps but please when you reskin a map don't change it up and add so many things over tanks that makes the camera a pain.
