Defeating a Prince (A Story of the Little Tiger that Could)

As the day dragged on in the city of Widepark, Commander STURMHAUBITZE42 and his tank crew played a game of flip cups, as they planned on entering the "Flip Cup Championship" back in Philadelphia, once the war was over.  The tank Company that they were attached to, were likewise involved in activities to pass the day.

Suddenly a call came out from the Company Commander, Captain Snuggles;  "Enemy have moved in and occupied the Northern Base.  We're going to hit them fast and take back control of the North.  Get to da tanks, NAOH!"

Oberfeldwebel Sturm and his tank crew leapt into action, leaving behind all their red Dixie cups, and climbed into their Tiger tank.  Once all the crew reported they were ready, Sturm gave the call to move; "Roll Out!"

The Tiger and it's valiant crew weaved it's way through the city streets and headed East to a hill that had a good view of the area, allowing also a sight lane down the rail yard.  Commander Sturm stuck his head out of his cupola and viewed the area with his binoculars, but nothing was yet spotted.

Suddenly the radio came to life with reports of enemy encounters, seemingly everywhere, and Radio Operator Dennis relayed the info to Sturm.  Checking his map, Sturm could see that the locations identified seemed to centered around a stretch of train tracks on an elevated hill cutting through the center of the area of Widepark.  Looking through his binoculars again, he identified a number of tanks that were engaging friendlies, when an enemy AT-8 rolled up the hill and onto the train tracks about 200 meters away from him.

The AT-8 was busy engaging an ally, so Commander Sturm dropped down into the tank and called out to his Gunner, Charlie, to engage the AT-8.  Charlie got a bead on the side of the AT-8 and fired his first shot.  A clean hit.  He then followed that up with another two shots, also penetrating the AT-8's side.  Finally the AT-8 backed away behind a wall and building after realizing he was being hit from the side.

Sturm told the Driver, Dee, to head off the hill and down to the rail yard.  After a quick check to make sure their were no enemy at the North end of the yard, the Tiger smashed through a wall to get a better look at the enemy vehicles on the North side of the hill with train tracks.

Anticipating the AT-8 to be behind the wall, Charlie opened fire immediately on the AT-8 once the wall was smashed, and the Loader, Frank, loaded up another round.  The smoking remains of the AT-8 gave the Tiger a little extra cover now that it had knocked down the wall, and Sturm quickly called out targets.

About 300 meters away he saw a VK. 36.01 trying hide behind the hill and a knocked out tank, and let Charlie know to hit it.  Meanwhile Dee, without the need of direction, angled the Tiger properly to help with defeating incoming fire from the VK tank.  First shot was a clean hit, but now the VK saw the Tiger and returned fire.  Despite the angling of the Tiger, the first shot got through.  No injuries and no tank failure, but quite annoying to Sturm nonetheless.

Still though, the VK was armed with either a Konisch or 7,5cm L/70, as the damage was minimal, and with no other targets popping up on this side of the tracks, Sturm decided to sit it out and focus on knocking out the VK.

While the VK positioned itself behind a burned out vehicle, Sturm spotted a Light tank at the top of the tracks near the VK, and gave Charlie the go ahead.  One quick shot and the Light was burning on the tracks.  Charlie then returned the aim of the gun back to the VK, but did not have a good shot and thus the VK was left to the friendlies near it.

At this point in time, Sturm saw that there was still nobody North of the rail yard, and that the enemy had moved to the Southern portion of the city, which meant that his Company was clearing caving to the assault of the Purple Army (colorblind mode :-P).  His Radio Operator, Dennis, was also getting various reports of an enemy in a Black Prince which was tearing through various friendly positions.  To compound these issues, or to make them clearer, the Base Alarm suddenly started blaring.  We had been compromised!

Sturm told Dee to start heading for the Base, and told her to be sneaky about it.  So Dee drove the Tiger around buildings and knocked down walls here and there, and she expertly piloted the tank back to a good position to take out the invaders.

At the base Sturm spotted a Panther and a Tiger occupying the area.  The enemy Tiger noticed Sturm's Tiger and tried to take a shot, but Dee anticipated this and angled the tank at the right time, causing the shot to bounce off the armor.  With the enemy Tiger's first shot a miss, Sturm had Charlie focus on the Panther which was fully exposed and turned away engaging friendlies.  The first shot was a clean shot to the back of the Panther, and yet surprisingly the Panther did not catch on fire.

After the shot, Dee pulled the Tiger back behind some cover so that the enemy Tiger could not get an easy shot, and was forced to leave the cover it was using to try and get a bead on our heroic tank.  In doing so, the already low health enemy Tiger put itself into a disadvantageous position, and was then easily tracked by Charlie's skill as a gunner.

Again, due to angling, the enemy Tiger bounced it's shot and was still tracked to boot.  The next shot from Sturm's Tiger was into the ammo rack on the side of the enemy Tiger, and it was a successful ammo rack shot because the enemy blew up.  1/3 of it's health left, ammo racked, no health left.

The enemy Panther was still busy focused on friendlies and still had it's rear facing Sturm's Tiger.  So with his next shot, Charlie took out the tracks to prevent it from running or traversing, and then finished it off with his next two shots.

Success.  The Base had been re-secured, but their was still a Black Prince tearing through his company on the Western side of the city.  So Sturm and crew pushed on as his team fell swiftly.

He managed to work his way over to the west, but was confronted with an AT-7.  The AT-7 took aim and got a hit on the Tiger, but Dee and Charlie played a game of peek-a-boo with the AT-7, causing it to miss time after time.  Clearly the gunner of the enemy vehicle was a fresh recruit, as he was too impatient and often times hit the building to which the Tiger used as cover.

At the short distance, Charlies shot's to the cupola of the AT-7 never missed.  Still though, the Tiger was taking hit's and the AT-7 had a lot of health, so Sturm told Dee to pull back and move around the buildings to flank the AT-7, which was now trying to roll towards the Tiger.

So Dee swung around the building, and sure enough the AT-7 did not realize the Tiger's intent, as it had it's side exposed.  Charlie put a round into the tracks, and Dee rushed forward bringing the Tiger up in a T-Bone position.  The AT-7 was then hit with round after round until it's eventual demise.

At this point, Dennis told Sturm that almost the entire company was gone most all of them knocked out by the Black Prince, and that the only two remaining vehicles apart from the Tiger were a T25 AT and a Panzer IV.  The enemy still had the Black Prince, a Panzer V/IV, a Jackson, and an AT-2.

Finally the valiant Tiger worked it's way over to the West of the city, and came into contact with the Panzer IV who was rushing at the Black Prince.  The Black Prince, who surprisingly not damaged that much, made short work of the Panzer IV, bringing it's kill count up to 8.  Sturm had Dee move into a sidscrapping position and began to engage the Black Prince, at a range of less than 50 meters.  Charlie's first shot tracked the Prince, and the Princes shots bounced off the side of the Tiger.  The Tiger was dominating the Prince with good shots to the Princes sides and whittling it's health down, it would be a sure victory but suddenly the Panzer V/IV came up behind the Prince and then disappeared around a building, clearly attempting to flank.

At this point the Black Prince had taken a lot of damage, but had inflicted it's fair share as well, as the Tiger's cover used for side scrapping was not the best, and shots could get through.  Knowing the flank was eventual, Sturm had Dee angle the tank so that the right corner of the tank faced the Prince, and the left corner would face the area where the V/IV would surely come out from.  This tactic cut down on a clean side hit from either of the two enemy vehicles.

Before the V/IV rounded the corner of the building, the Prince decided to push forward with the last bit of life it had, and right as Frank was getting a round loaded, the Black Prince was blown up by a friendly T25 AT that had come to help.  The T25 AT drove past the wreckage of the Prince, allowing Sturm's Tiger to then turn the tank to face the oncoming V/IV which had just turned around the corner of the building.

The V/IV had been too slow, it might have had a chance to do serious harm, but now it faced a Tiger that still had a fair amount of health left and was free to engage it.  The V/IV tried to do some fancy shaking around but the valiant crew of Sturms tank would have none of it.  A couple shots later and the V/IV was dead.

Now the Tiger had a T25 AT with him and the remaining two from the Green Army set out to destroy the Purple Army and take the North.  They encountered a Jackson, and made short work of it, before pushing North.  The T25 AT went through an underpass and followed the city streets in the West in a bid to flank the North Base.  Sturm had Dee drive right up and over the train track hill, so that he could come at the base defender in such a way that the defender would never realize the T25 AT was flanking.

Sure enough it worked, and a lonely AT-2 rolled out from behind some buildings and attempted to engage the Tiger.  It's shots were damaging the Tiger despite angling, because the AT-2 was equipped with a howitzer.  This was no good for the Tiger, which had fought many battles before this.  So Dee tried her best to zig zag the tank forward, while Charlie attempted to hit the cupola of the AT-2 of 200 meters.  A couple shots bounced, but enough of them went through and the AT-2 perished.

Victory!  The crews of the Tiger and T25 AT were so happy, they jumped out of their tanks and went swimming in the lake near the North Base, and everybody lived happily ever after.  The end.

Good Job! +1

Here is an alternate ending (i love these):

After Charlie destroyed the Black Prince, Dee moved the tank past a building.  Sturm, with his head out of the cupola, was distracted on trying to find the AT-2.  Behind a building sat a slightly damaged T28, fully upgraded with the 120mm.  The T28 fired directly into the rear of the distracted Tiger, setting it on fire. But with quick reflexes, the crew managed to put it out, but the ammo rack got damaged.  Charlie, knocked unconsious by the shot, was awakened by a med kit, and traversed the turret to face the T28, whilst Dee drove it to cover.

Suddenly, just as the T28 reloaded, the T25 AT burst infront of the Tiger, getting destroyed.  Charlie looked at the T28 through the scope, and said in a shaky, quivering voice, "its XKiwiIsAwesomeX, the master of the T28."  Shocked by this, Sturm told Dee to retreat to better cover.  The clock was ticking down, and it was only the Tiger and the T28.   Suddenly, Kiwi wheeled around the corner to kill the Tiger and secure the win.  Charlie, panicked beyond belief, fired randomly into the T28.

The T28 took 203 damage and got tracked.  Dee, seizing the oppertunity without Sturms command, drove infront of the reloaded T28.  The Tiger showed it's broadside to the T28's lethal 120.  The T28 fired, point blank into the side of the heroic Tiger. The shell went right through the Tiger, only causing to gaping holes on both sides. Sturm said in the most relived voice, "Thank RNGesus."

Dee wheeled around the T28 in an attempt to flank him.  But, as Charlie stated, it was the infamous XKiwiIsAwesomeX.  Commander Kiwi countered the Tiger's flank attempt by backing up and turning to keep his front to the Tiger.  The thunderous 120mm inched closer and closer to the Tiger.  Commander Kiwi realizes that he cant stop the Tiger from flanking.  Kiwi floors the T28, letting the Tiger get behind him.  Charlie takes a shot, and pens right through the rear, slightly damaging the engine.  Kiwi's driver, Isaac, got behind a building, obscuring the Tigers view.  He then traversed the sluggish T28 180 degrees, anticpating the Tiger coming through the alley to shoot them in the rear again.

As Commander Kiwi and his loader Matt were planning, Dee poked out, of the alley just enough for them to see what Kiwi was doing.  The clock was at 1 minute, Kiwi was reloaded so John, his gunner, could shoot 6 times before time ran out.  In a gutsy move, Kiwi moved around the building, only to find the smart Tiger doing the same thing!  Charlie fired at the cupola of the T28, and John fired at the lower hull of the Tiger.  They unloaded shot after shot, the DPM tied with the amount of damage dealt by the T28.

0:05 on the clock, Commander Kiwi backed up just enough for the T28s gun elevation could shoot the Tigers damaged ammo rack.  John fires, and Charlie's shot goes wide. Commander Kiwi ammo racks and destroys the Tiger for 96 hp. Purple Team (color blind) wins the massive engagement. The Tiger's crew bails out. Commander Sturm and Dee both break their legs on the fall off the burning tank.  Not leaving their "family" behind, the rest of the Tiger's crew drags their crew, only to find Kiwi waiting for them....

In show of sheer respect for the Tiger's skills, Kiwi offers them Cola, Hershey bars, and med kits to save the crew of his enemy.

XKiwiIsAwesomeX then gives STURMHAUBITZE42 a friend request, and they platoon from then on.
