I have read just a few threads/posts regarding the Badger and it sounds like the Deathstar is still the better choice of the two.  Anyone out there able to comment having played it?  So far my choice after 235k is the DS, not the Badger.  I am curious what the actual experience has been for tankers.
I'm just saying.....

Well the badger was balanced for PC, then nerfed.  The DS still has its broken HESH, broken view range, and broken turret.

Yeah, deathstar is better.

Well, if you hide the lower plate on the Badger, it’s extremely tough frontally. So, I’ve played it rather forward on the maps as I tend to do. When I’ve had good team support, I’ve done very well. If the enemy gets on your sides, you’re toast. Think of it is a sluggish, but much better armored 122-54. Without a good team around you though, the DPM suffers just enough to have carries fall short. I’ve still had fun with it considering I don’t much like TDs. Oh, and I run two small repair kits and a small first aid as just about every gun and it faces knocks the tracks off with one hit.

The DS is the DS.

if you want Lols, get the DS first...but I say get them both in the long run

I ran a dozen battles and converted XP 3 years ago to get the DS...Lol. I gave it a few dozen battles with boosts this time around. I still used some free XP. Lol

I opted out after the AT7.  I'm ok in the AT line, but I absolutely despise the playstyle.  I have a low tolerance for slow.

I was at a juncture with my skill level when I was at the AT7 where I enjoyed it. It was when I first came to forum and was horrible. I just drove it as an assault tank. It was slow, but I never paused or stopped, always forward with the occasional use of cover. I liked that it seemed to block a lot of damage even if I did eventually get penned and die. I was always bouncing at least some damage. When I made the at15 and Tort, I felt like butter so I walleted past them. I was the classic example of how one shouldn’t wallet forward thinking the next tank might be better. Lol

Have you tried the Su-122-54?  That's a huge turd compared to the Tortoise.  I'm almost done the Su grind, and I can't wait to get back in the Tortoise.

I just got the Badger and I really enjoy it. Its DPM might be worse than the PC version, but that doesn't change the fact that it has 3k DPM on gun with solid alpha damage and good gun handling, and the platform is basically an E3 that has worse armor for better mobility. It can't bounce super high pen premium ammo (as I learned the hard way by facing an APCR spamming E3), but when hiding the lower plate its armor is incredibly tough to pen (that same game against the E3 I bounced 11/12 rounds from two Waffles, one of which was firing APCR). It's a great assault gun TD that can rapidly tear apart enemies without taking damage in return.

On the other hand, the Deathstar is still stupidly OP, but at the same time it can be incredibly frustrating to play. Sure, it has HESH with great pen that does 1750 damage and 600-800 damage when it fails to pen, but that doesn't change how frustrating it can be to hit an enemy you should have penned only to deal 600 damage on a 25 second reload. Likewise, while its armor certainly bounced plenty of rounds when firing at one, the second you actually need your armor to work it will manage to let you down. Don't get me wrong, it's still a very OP tank and it can be hilarious to do 9k damage in just five shots, but it's also a very inconsistent TD and the novelty will eventually wear off. I'd personally recommend the Badger if you want consistency and the Deathstar if you want what is basically a tier X KV-2 with higher pen, but I do feel that both are worth picking up in the long run.

Nope!  I grinded out the Jagdtiger to elite and then gave both middle fingers to the idea of playing TDs.

Exactly what I was thinking.  Not the exact wording though.  The words I was really thinking are not allowed here.

Well, if you like to gamble, you'd love the Deathstar.

The Deathstar is for arty players that are too impatient to wait and hope for a one shot kill.

I asked an EOD man how he dealt with the stress of his job.

He said he didn’t have any stress. Either he was right or else it became someone else’s problem.
