Thank you for the response. That was basically all I wanted. I ended up making a different transaction now knowing that silver was being paid back rather than gold. All good though. I'll save the Fatherland to trade in for the next one. :honoring:

Anytime.  I hope this bring clarification.  Apologies.

I would suggest to WGC, that before these "Events" are released, that test accounts are used to test the results.

This might be difficult to setup dealing with MS and Sony, but would assist in finding these errors.

If this is already being performed , then I would suggest you move the people performing this to a different job, then finding some people that can reliably test these updates before updates are released.

Gold only works for WOT, I mean its not like you could cash it in. Un-equipping modules or prem days pm tanks. I use my earned gold just buying tanks myself. Goes right back to WG

I don't know what to think about it except that it's wrong to allow gold refunds at first (and having people getting gold refunded for their trade-ins) and then change it to silver without any explanation provided. I mean bottom line is, gold is in-game WoT currency, you can't actualy take advantage of it and make money out of it. You have to spend it on WoT no matter what you decide to spend it on. There is no point in hoarding gold on your account. IT'S NOT REAL GOLD! It would certainly allow for more combinations and this trade-in (after first couple of initial testing runs) was supposed to be a success. Yes, it would allow people to get some new tanks and get rid of some old ones, but thinking that players would only trade in tanks which were earned for free is wrong conclusion and it's only WG's loss not to allow gold refunds. Not everyone earned their tanks, I would say that far more people bought them. I'm still seeing threads where people ask for advice about what to buy, and they often ask about Fatherland, Motherland, Revalorise, ChieftainT95 and others.

What about tanks someone bought for full price in gold and now they have to trade them with 50% gold value lost? I've heard people trading old ''regular'' premiums for Black Edition versions. Like Loewe traded in for Black Loewe. Original tank was payed 12500 gold and now its value in trade in is 6250. If you decide to exchange it for some cheaper tank like Pudel, you would have to give up over 2000 gold and get a refund in silver. That way you would lose 8500 gold from original transaction, and that gold stays on WG's account, cause it's already spent,

It might look like someone will take advantage of trading their earned T34 and Fatherland, but think about what those earn Ops did for game popularity. And those tanks are not ''free'' tanks, they were EARNED by playing this game, populating the servers. During those Ops, servers were alive, queues were full, game looked healthy. And now you should deny those same players with a small satisfaction of trading in their EARNED tanks for some other tanks. It's all in-game content, it's created for players, WG takes profit from the fact that players play and use their content. In general, event such as this one would always generate profit for WG, no matter how much gold refunds they make, and it's like that because GOLD IS IN-GAME CURRENCY AND IT'S ONLY VALID IN WOT!

Not like you can buy a beer or a hamburger with it.

The 13. (Tiger) Kompanie, of Panzer Regiment Großdeutschland, reported on the performance of the 88 mm KwK 36 L/56, when their Tigers engaged the T-34: "First round hits were usually achieved at ranges between 800 to 1,000 meters. At these ranges, the Panzer Granate (they are referring to the PzGr. 39 APCBC ammunition) absolutely penetrated through the frontal armor, and usually still destroyed the engine at the rear of the T-34 tank. In 80 percent of the cases, shots from the same range hitting the side of the hull toward the rear of the tank resulted in the fuel tanks exploding. Even at ranges of 1,500 meters and longer, during favorable weather, it is possible to succeed in penetrating the T-34 with minimal expenditure of ammunition" (JENTZ, Thomas L.; Germany's TIGER Tanks - Tiger I and II: Combat Tactics; op. cit.).

Someone should do a poll, (polls are rare in the forums :teethhappy: ) a poll about getting rid of the trade in program because it does not give gold back or keep it as is with silver refunds. :coin: I'm pretty sure players will call for a boycott ;)

Who called for a boycott?

Will this Boycott do??

And one more thing, there is something called honoring the terms of the deal, even if it's not as favorable to you as you think it should be. This trade-in was introduced within 5 years anniversary celebration, and alowing gold refunds which would allow for more valid options would be more than appreciated by WoT community, even if it's made like exception to the rule and ''One-time deal'' only.

I have got 2 replies from customer support and now raibots answer, but it is still not clear why gold refund cant be done when in fact it was done. I proposed that i will even invest more into game if gold refund is available - a win-win situation. So I do not understand, why WG does not want my additional investment in gold? I understand that news anouncement had silver revard written in it, but that was not the case with early birds. Ok I leave it here - at least now there are no needs for buying more gold

Gold is not in game currency, silver is.  Gold in general must be purchased with actual regulated currency..
So whether you can only spend it in the game is beside the point. It still has an objective value.

*upon review I see that I misinterpreted some things. apologies.

Maybe what he's saying is that once you buy it, it's in game. You can't run over to COD and buy something there with it. You bought it for WOT, it's there, can't be used anywhere else.

if you dont know the real answer, dont give a false one that will anger and mislead people :(

refunds are ALWAYS in Silver(when they started the new trade-in it bugged out and did Gold by accident)

that said, it SHOULD always be in Gold, but WG refuses to be decent and reasonable about this :(

I understand the difference between the silver and gold, although you can buy things like consumables and premium ammo with gold as well (it's optional). My point was the fact that you can't spend your gold out of WoT, you can't convert it back to regulated currency, once you got it on your WoT account, you have to spend it on content related to WoT exclusively, no matter if you bought it, won it in war chests, got it as a refund in trade-in transaction or earned it in Ops. You can buy gifts for someone else but only within WoT content.

you can, however imagine 2 scenarios, 1, you get gold back in the trade in program and little while later you want to convert xp, not a problem you use the gold you got from the trade in. Scenario 2, you didnt get gold but you need to convert xp so you buy more gold. More money for wg if they dont give you gold on the trade in deal.

Oh I agree fundamentally with what you are saying. What I was trying to say is don't undermine the objective value of gold in their system. What they have is a company town style economy. Closed.

Hello tankers,

The refunds are meant to be done in silver.  Presently, our first party partners are the actual gold vendors, and consequently, refunds have to be made in Silver when trading via the trading system.

Something tells me it's a little more complicated.

Scenario 2, you didnt get gold but you need to convert xp so you buy more gold. More money for wg if they dont give you gold on the trade in deal.

I don't think that can have significant impact on WG earnings. Trade-in is limited time event and options available for trade in are also limited. You can buy Black tanks and some rare tanks, but in this case only tanks of lower value in gold would have such effect, basically tanks with value lower than 7.5k gold. This would be Pudel, Minuteman, Warlord, 13 57 Tiger 131 and maybe one or two more (I don't remember all of them). But buying these tanks in trade-in could potentialy generate some excess value, but only if you are using tanks of higher value like Fatherland, T34, Somua, Defender etc. Let's say you purchased all of those tanks , your refund in gold wouldn't be over 8-9k in gold (rough estimate). So scenario 1 you get your gold refunds and you convert xp, you use your 8k of gold and get 200k free xp (never used this feature but it's 1:25 iirc). Is this enough to skip whole TT? Not even close. You do get some free xp, you can skip a stock package or two and that's about it. If you want to skip TT lines you need more than that.

Also, tanks of higher value that people are willing to trade in are limited. Usualy it's those earned tanks that go first, tanks like Fatherland, ISU-130 and T34. Maybe King Tiger and Scourge, but last two were bit more difficult to earn because of Op lenght and requirements, so there is fewer of these in general and they are considered to be ''better'' tanks by community, so lower number of people are willing to trade these in. If you want to get all tanks with lower value (to get a gold refund), you have to sacrifice some tanks you've bought earlier and payed full price (whatever that price may be). Hence, if you're trading in your let's say Loewe, you have to sacrifice 6250 of the value you've originaly payed for it.

I don't wanna argue, that is just my opinion, I think WG would make money out of it even if they allowed gold refunds for this Trade-in event. Yes, people would get some gold in refunds, but that gold would be used to buy some other tanks or content in WoT.

Even at ranges of 1,500 meters and longer, during favorable weather, it is possible to succeed in penetrating the T-34 with minimal expenditure of ammunition" (JENTZ, Thomas L.; Germany's TIGER Tanks - Tiger I and II: Combat Tactics; op. cit.).

3 MoE tanks: T-34, Pz IVH, Tiger I, Pz.Kpfw. T 25, M7, T-50

I don't think how that can have significant impact on WG earnings.

Maybe King Tiger and Scourge, but last two were bit more difficult to earn because of Op lenght and requirements, so there is fewer of these in general and they are considered to be ''better'' tanks by community, so less people is willing to trade these in. If you want to get all tanks with lower value (to get a gold refund), you have to sacrifice some tanks you've bought earlier and payed full price (whatever that price may be). Hence, if you're trading in your let's say Loewe, you have to sacrifice 6250 of the value you've originaly payed for it.

all good points and I have no intention of arguing either. I was simply putting forward why I think its silver and not gold.
