Cupola Troll Armour

AT-2

AT-8
AT-7
AT-15
Tortoise

Because of how the dynamic of the AT series changes from having extremely heavy armour in the lower tiers to becoming relatively mediocrely armoured in higher tiers, I focused much more on the armour profiles of the AT-2, AT-8 and AT-7 than I did on the AT-15 and the Tortoise. Without the added concern that you have when facing the AT-2, AT-8 and AT-7 because of their armour, the AT-15 and Tortoise are comparatively easier to fight (that is to say, while the AT-15 and Tortoise have decent armour they have nothing that other tanks at their tiers don't have. While the AT-7 doesn't really have to aim to penetrate a T29, the AT-15 does have to aim to consistently penetrate the Tiger II.) than the lower tier tanks are, though the AT-15 and Tortoise will punish you much worse for poor play than the lower tier AT-series tanks will.

Nice post...these tanks dont bother me at all..unless they keep me tracked...but pretty easy to work em once u learn how.  All their armor means nothing if they cant turn!

Nice write up, +1.

For me personally the at-2 is the only one that gives me problems, if I'm a tier 5 tank vs it I will most likely die 1v1 unless I'm a super fast scout, can't count on teammates to help flank him unfortunatly. All the later ones have super easy to hit weakspots and are slow as dirt.

Yeah, I've not really found them too hard to kill, but it seems like a lot of players do because there have been a lot of complaints about them. So maybe this guide of weakpoints and general strategy will help them out.

You should also mention that the loaders on the AT-15 & the Tortoise are in the commanders hatch and are VERY easy to kill.

Lights tanks need rebalanced(again)

Update 4.2 and 4.6 were terrible

I think the machine gun turrets on the AT-8 and 7 also have loaders in at least one of the two turrets.

Just started noticing the AT2 today.  Bastards are armored like turtles and dish out some pain.  One took out like 4 tanks before finally meeting his end via Dr. Sherman.  I dread coming across them in poor maneuvering tanks.  I appreciate the tips.

The AT-7 is the easiest to kill for me, even easier then the AT-8. You just have to get a shot on the hatch for the AT-7. You can penetrate it even through  the front.

The loader is not in the commander's hatch, the commander is. You may be mistaking this for the small MG turrets on the AT 8 and 7 where the loader can be damaged, or the large MG turrets on the AT 15 or Tortoise where the loader can also be damaged.

A competent AT-7 player doesn't let you see the hatch. The only thing they would let you see is the gun, poking out from behind a rock and aimed square at whatever you have exposed.

Because of that, I'd say the AT-7 is the most dangerous of the ATs at its tier.

Made a picture to show why the cupola bounces so many shots. Happy now?  (That's two, one on the cupola, the other on the "gun-side-out" position)

Those things do frustrate me at a distance for sure. But if I can close on it then it is helpless.  That is why they shouldn't ever be alone.  Been killed a few times by their teammates before I could finish them off.  And the AT 2 is invincible to a few tier V tanks.  I have closed on them with the Ram II and the T-14 directly behind them putting shots into their flat "no armor" turret and they can't pen. Once I closed with one in T-14 and got directly behind it wedged up to it (made an upside down "T").  10 shots in a row all hitting the back of the turret at a 90 degree angle gun same height and no pen.  Once I got back in the garage I looked at the guns and realized they just don't have enough pen to take out that tank.  So far I have only had this problem with the low pen Ram II and T14.  All other tanks wreck them hitting that spot.

You've got to shoot them in their rear lower hull with the T14 if you want to pen. The Ram II "can" penetrate the side/rear casement, but its basically a coinflip. (Rear armour is ~76, casement is 102)
