As a huge fan of RTS games, I really enjoyed Commander mode when it was first introduced. Controls were a bit odd not too complicated to handle. Now with the new commands, and Tankist mode it absolutely became unplayable because of the lack of balance.
When two commanders are fighting with each other, the game keeps its balance, just as before. But when you're playing as a commander but confronting real players in front of you, while you have to deal with IA to move, deploy and locate your units, this truly is unfair. Because IA can't compete with real players, especially when playing with a controller.
Secondly, changes have been made to controls, which now are really hard to deal with, because they just don't feel smooth or intuitive. gameplay needs to be redone to fit what we have in real RTS.
A to select a unit, then A again to locate or deploy this same unit afterwards. Not X.
The selection of multiple units is not fine as well.
You can only select all at once, only one or the ones in the circle (when holding the right command).
We just can't select units according to their type. Nor we can select some while using some squared or rounded interface, that we could get wider or smaller.
RB+LB for selecting all units is not fine.
LT+A would be better.
LB+A would be better to drag a square or a circle and select the units within its shape.
I think you really should have a look about what has been done to the Xbox 360 version of Command & Conquer 3, to have a better view and feeling about how things must be done because actually it's just not playable the way it is.
