i was curious about what the main differences between these 2 are,

i own the FV215B 183 and was curious if it is worth getting the FV4005, i notice a lot more FV4005s than FV215B 183s on the battlefield.

which one is better?

does the FV4005 have better gun handling?

is the FV4005 better in terms of overall gun performance?

thank you for any answers to my questions! :)

Better gun handling and a slightly better reload but it has literally no armor. The OG Deathstar is better

Lights tanks need rebalanced(again)

Update 4.2 and 4.6 were terrible

Deathstar is superior. However, FV4005 is more flexible, it has 10 degrees gun depression and it's turret turns 90 degrees, like T110E4... and has better aim time. But FV4005 has much worse camo, no armor and  is bit slower on console (on PC FV4005 has much more powerful engine).

...and still only 12 rounds lol.

The HESHbarn does also have 10 degrees of gun depression so you can poke a little over hills.

Yeah in terms of the gun the FV4005 is vastly superior: it has quicker aimtime, alot better gun handling, better accuracy and has 10 degrees of gun depression compared to only 5 degrees on the FV215. Also it has a turret that can turn 90 degrees to each side, compared to the 45 degrees on the FV215. But the FV215 has 15 degrees of gun elevation, while FV4005 only has 10, meaning you willl struggle more in it when trying to fire on tanks that are above you e.g. on a hill.

Reload time and overall mobility are the same for both tanks.

For for the rest: in terms of the camoflage rating but especially the armour..... it is not even a fair contest: with the Deathstar you can rely on your turret to bounce most enemy shells and let your gun aim in fully before firing, but this is a luxery for the FV4005: your camo rating is abysmall and your giant turret has no armour whatsoever.... so you can only really peak over hills, use that gun depression and do a snap shot as all shots that hit you will pen you.

So overall in most situations the original Deathstar is still better vehicle.

How much turret armour does the barn have? 14mm? Either way, literally every HE shell will pen from any direction/angle, assuming you miss the gun barrel. Found that out a while back by accident, I had HE loaded in my Patton for something else, one popped up and boom. Hit him again and he decided to suicide off a cliff instead of trying to fire back. After the game I looked and the shells killed 3 crew. God knows what his reload would have been. I have ammo racked one with HE too.

If you're doing snapshots for anything other than very close range combat with either of these tanks then expect to loose big amounts of silver. The 4005 almost always misses and I'd imagine the 215b isn't much better in that area either.

I like my FV4005. I play it like a single shot WT E100 in close to mid range combat and it rewards greatly as long as the teammates aren't being [edited]. I haven't tried the FV215b 183 but I can't fathom using it with worse gun stats since the 4005 already has below average accuracy and aim time.

I feel like the only reason you see more FV4005 on the battlefield is because the grind is so much easier. The entire line up to the max Tortoise just rips out your soul. I’m currently on the Tortoise and I’m 12k from the 120mm. Let me tell you, the 20 pd gun, is horrible. If gone up to the maxed Challenger on the other line. It was much better than the AT7. But at tier 10 I have a much harder time dealing with a deathstar than I do with FV4005. I wouldn’t bother with the flat box. Stick with the better tank. Hope my input helps. Cheers

Completely agree. The grind is easier, the AT line is pathetic. The only fun tanks beyond the deathstar (for me) are the AT2. and a little bit the Tortoise. Others are garbage.

The AT line has suffered more than most for power creep, but by the same token I suspect that WF is happy to punish people for wanting the Deathstar a little.

The AT could all do with an armour buff, but even that would struggle to have the impact required to balance them given their atrocious view range and lack of mobility isn't made up for by a better than average traverse and 1 dimensional armour with glaring weakspots to anything at the same tier, and definitely anything a tier higher.

Paper tanks for the Brits always seem to suffer more than their equivalent in other tech trees.

Yeah I did the fv4005 because thecgrind looked pretty fun, which it definitely was from tier 6 and on.
