I think this may shed some light on the issues of the matchmaker.

Honestly, I don't know how pc does matchmaking so my answer was a guess. At this point, I really don't care all that much. Whenever I have the motivation to play, I just try to make it work with whatever I'm given. It is frustrating to see an abundance of td's or heavies on one team versus much less on the other team. Also, my first response is more saying that I don't think wg can improve upon the matchmaker.

I would prefer to be delayed 30 seconds than to be the only tier 5 in a 100% tier 7 match.

I would prefer to be delayed 30 seconds than have platoon A match made against platoon B of +2 tiers. There is pretty much nothing worse than being in a 100% higher tier match other than yourselves.

I would prefer to see more reasonable evaluation for TD's / Mediums / Lights. Too many of anyone class can be utterly disruptive. Ideally lights should be picked last and have a maximum at >7, and wherever possible shouldn't outnumber artillery by more than 2 to 1.

I don't think WG is competent enough to improve MM in any meaningful way.

I'd have to say 4 and 5 man platoons, because of the way they get weighed.  They throw off the MM too much.  They should just reduce the max for platoons to 3 people the same way PC did, or weigh them the same way 2 and 3 man platoons get weighted.

The main issue that I have with the match making algorithm is how it weighs battles to be top heavy which really restricts the opportunities of the bottom minority to be able to do stuff. 

Bottom tier shouldn't consist of only a few tanks or be severely out numbered by upper tier tanks.

I have no issue with the matchmaker the way it is. I prefer to get into games quickly. It already sometimes takes 30 seconds to a minute to get into a match. Also, I like the variety. I think a lot of people blame the matchmaker for their losses, but in reality most games are decided by how good the players on each team are, not by what tank they are driving.

3) 1 1/2 minutes happens now if your in a VI, VII or VIII platoon because it's always trying to fit you in to a VIII, IX, or X game. Even though there are 45-60 players in your tier, and hardly any in the higher tiers, it waits until there are few in your tier and more in higher tiers before throwing you into a game. Yes this happens because I see it a lot.

4) Fail platoons has already been dealt with, so that's a non issue. This particular issue is a combination of misaligned tiers, with misaligned numbers of specific tank types, with misaligned platoons.

There should never be 2 times as many heavies on one team.

There should never be mostly heavies on 1 team and mostly mediums or TDs on the other.

There should never be a 1 or more top tier platoons on 1 team if the other team's platoon(s) are all bottom tier.

But as it is right now, these things are exceedingly commonplace, and the norm.

WAY too often my platoon are the only -2 tanks on our team, maybe even in the entire game. It is one of the most aggravating things about this whole stupid MM deal. Again, the abolishment of +2/-2 would cure some of these ills in a split second, for most of these issues would not be as glaringly terrible as they are at -2.

5) I have no idea what PC's model is, so I don't care. I'd assume it's similar. Why would it be different?

6) Yes, I know they do. Look at Etzio's Fail Platoon crusade. It made a difference and they changed it. We griped for years about the number of arty's in a game and they FINALLY did something about that. There have been innumerable times where it seems like WGing will do the exact opposite of what is asked for repeatedly, so it's easy to say they don't, but I believe they do. Just not to the extent the most of us would like them to.


My main concern that even though some changes have been made that are in accordance to what has been asked for on a regular basis, it all seems to be too little too late. Many things that seem like they should be paramount revisions to balance things out and retain players are looked at with apathetic eyes.

WG has shown time and again it doesn't care what it's players say. PC MM would be far better than what we have now, especially the new one they rolled out in the last week or so. My biggest problem with WOT is the matchmaking. It by far is the biggest killer of interest in the game

I think the platoons are too penalized and constantly forced to play with two higher levels to solve thanks. moreover there should be a fixed rule for the levels in play this is my idea maximum 2 levels higher then maximum three intermediate levels and the remaining ten minor levels.

I don't find this to be nearly the problem most do. 


Maybe a secondary check before the game loads to help equalize the multi-tank tier difference seen sometimes?  If one team is going to have 3 extra high tiers throw one to the other side and a lower tier back.

Matchmaking is basically fine.  Poor players use matchmaking as an excuse for poor performance.  As long as everyone is occasionally screwed at basically the same rate it doesn't matter.  I'm not willing to wait extra minutes in the queue for games.  

I'm not stealing kills, I'm handing out Confederate medals.

Could it be better? What a stupid question to start with, it can always be better no matter how good it is.


Anyway I have never felt it's as bad as people make out, there are 2 problems as I see it and if they were fixed I'd be a happy camper.

  1. All alone at the bottom, to me making it X/X/5, or even 3 if that would keep it speedy, would fix the major gripe I have.
  2. Level the classes better, a few each way adds variety to gameplay, but all TDs V all heavies (and unfortunately I'm not exagerating too much) is just stupid IMO.
  3. OH remove 5 man platoons, not really the question, but they are bad for the game and bad for MM too. 3 man platoons are more than enough and if people really want to play in a more organised way then they should just sort it out, I used to run a league for a game with no system in place by the creators and it can be done here quite easily, but every one moans about no clan wars and does nothing about it.

You’d think it would be a no brained decision for MM to balance out the tier numbers between the two teams when there aren’t Platoons involved.  And yet multiple times a day when playing I still see more tanks of a tier on one side than the other. Is it so hard to just switch a couple tanks from one team to the other to balance things out? :facepalm:

I asked an EOD man how he dealt with the stress of his job. 


He said he didn’t have any stress. Either he was right or else it became someone else’s problem.

Maybe if they introduced crossplay between consoles it could help if the MM system was up to it.


Generally I don’t find it too bad but occasionally I get lumped with a team full of bots.
