So the question to the developers is are there any new maps in the works

Would be nice if their were

Just asking

I'd love to see some new maps, it's always fun to see a 'meta' evolve as people figure out a new map.

I think map development is stuck with 360 limits.

One sunny day when they decide to cut the cord, it might become possible that our map pool starts growing. I wish we get all those beautiful PC maps, water physics etc.

In one of the last Battle Heroes Q&A articles it was stated that there were currently no new maps in development because they’ve maximized how much they can put into the game(read this to mean 360).  In order to add new maps they have to remove some...... Have you seen what happens here when ANY map gets removed???

Personally, I proposed eliminating the map-reskins as they often are only a meager change of scenery rather than unique topographical examples.  This would be Liberty Fallen, Salvage Yard, and Port-not-Port-but-still-sucks.  Panama and Amazon are also contenders, but do offer appreciable tactical differences which can justify them remaining.

Hope this is of help for you:

When will we get those cool new maps they've added on PC recently? And will we ever get reworked versions of existing maps like Province, Pilsen, and Highway?

  • [PAINGOD] We are currently maxed out if not over the desired size for the client. We’ll have to remove maps to add new ones, which has never been a popular option when we have had to do it in the past. Needs some more consideration though as you point out there’s quite a bit new stuff from PC.

Stadt Der Derpenheight is also a reskin map that can be removed for lack of tactical diversity since it’s just Neon Himmelsdorf anyway

I'm sure there are some maps that no one would miss.

Though the issue isn't number of maps per se, more the amount of map assets. So if they remove a map they'd have to remove all the maps using the same assets to make any real difference.

Question is if the reskins really take up enough space to be replaced by new designs?

I know one of the  factors is shared resources and perhaps the reskins share almost everything with the original version, which would mean removing them wouldn't save much space.

Some people always miss even the most broken and hated maps. Removing maps is always terrible idea. I guess we'll just have to wait when either Microsoft cuts of the Xbox 360 support or Wargaming finds some clever way to add new maps without increasing game size.

it's simple, delete ALL reskins "merc" maps and replace them with really new maps ... so there's space for real news, it's not too difficult....

I'd rather they reworked existing maps than introduced new flawed maps that'll take 4 years before they admit they don't work and try to tweak their way out of.

Also chuck Abbey, Pilsen and Skorpion Pass on a bin and set them on fire please.

PS5 details announced today, just saying...

Unfortunately, adding new maps won't help much if the rotation is still allowing the same repeats.
I'm just saying.....

Well they certainly should remove some maps.  This game is stall as all get out.  And the cause of that is the maps.  Most maps are the same corridor copy and paste paint by numbers dumpster fire maps.  How many times can you drive your tank to a choke point and corner hump it with 10 of your teammates.  Not having a map rotation single handedly is what is and has always been killing this game.  Remember mapgate 1.0, 2.0?

Case in point....played 27 games last night. Had severogorsk 9 times. Overlord 3. Several others twice. Several once.

Agreed. Last night we saw the same few maps over and over, and we only played for about 3 hours. I didn't keep track of how many times we saw them, but I know we saw Ardennes twice in only 4 matches. Plus it was one of those nights for disliked maps. Sacred Valley, Ardennes, and Windstorm to mention a few. What's the point in getting more maps when we rarely see what we have? Had Kasserine last night after what's felt like weeks since it came up.

I'd be happy with seeing a variety of what already exists in the game. sure we have lots of reskins, but there's plenty original maps out there and yet the same ones come up over and over.

Not that simple, those maps are just reskins of original maps like Westfield, Malinovka etc. They use same features and files except merc versions add a bunch of obstacles to original maps. If you remove Merc maps you don't get much free space, actualy it's questionable if any space would be freed with it.

New maps could be built from existing assets, I think.  With a little creativity we could make more unique maps....... unless “assets” includes the terrain itself and not just the buildings and trees and stuff.
