I was training to learn to handle my P.43 bis, and I got my gun damaged on three separate occasions in the same battle.

This brought some reckoning and after several battles, I did notice the gun is very susceptible to damage. This is the first tank that I own that seems to be particularly fragile in that section.

Is this because the turret mantle is weak? most of my tanks have no armor, so I should have already seen that before.

The P.43 bis seem to be particularly exposed to that, while the P.43 was not.

What can I do to mitigate getting my gun broken?

My Warlord Panther has gun dmg issues. Only tank I ever trained Armorer,  As the 5th skill,  Also equipped 2 repair kits. At least once every battle, When I do the PG Island race op. The gun is knocked out. A quick 110,000 silver profit though.

I've heard that the Grille 15 is prone to gun damage as well.

Do you actually have any information on what, makes a gun more exposed on one tank from the other?

The P.43 has better armor that a lot of the tanks I use, but the ratio of gun damage is exponential. Is it turret geometry?

I'm gonna guess and say auto lock point for RB/RT on the front?

This could be it.  If it's right where people lock on it will get damaged.

Otherwise it's tanks with large modules or thin armor.  The WT E100's gun and loading mechanism is huge and the turret armor is paper thin so the gun gets damaged all the time.  It's the only tank I have where Armorer is a priority skill.

I'm not stealing kills, I'm handing out Confederate medals.

Based on my limited game play, I believe RB/RT is aimed directly at center mass on all three axis. Meaning which side of the tank is in your gun line, what angle are they at and what is your elevation to the red tank.

Most of the time you are shooting a red tank in the front at same elevation and height of both tanks is equal, therefore you get bounce.

I have experienced penning an Abso with another tier 6 using standard rounds and RB/RT at the front from both an elevated and depressed angle, but don't recall a pen at the same elevation, unless RNG was on my side.

Open top TDs that get blasted with HE are prone to gun damage. Ridge fighters that only expose there turret will get hit in the mantlet a lot so that's a lot of dice rolls (RNG). Tanks with a lot of turret armor will take a bunch of hits, so eventually gun will be damaged.
