The "Machine" contract is a walk in the park compared to 2018's Tusk one!

I am not trying to minimize the efforts the Machine contract will require, still substantial, based on several factors, player and tanks available, however, at a quick glance, it is much more doable than last year's Tusk crusade.

XP wise, it is about the same, 1.5MM against 1.6MM; however, with the Tusk, you only had 10 tanks eligible and said tanks Tiers IX and X exclusively, starting from stage I. To make it even more challenging, the chosen tanks had to be from only two nations, and either Light or Tank Destroyer.

When you join all these variable together, you got a lot of players that had to go through the stages with a handful of tanks, and battling the last stage in a single one!

With the Machine contract, the required threshold has improved a lot. Admittedly, there are still some efforts to be put in, but nothing like the Tusk was.

A larger Tier band, starting at IV, and a totally enhanced tank selection, categories, and nation wise; Soviet, Czech, Brit., French, Mercenaries.... all  in all, about four tens worth of tanks.

Given that the first battle daily double counts in XP accrual, those of you who have all the permissible tanks, will be able to get through the XP quest playing less battles.

The access is a lot better to get the Machine, still consequent, much improved compared to the Tusk contract version 2018. Agreed?

How many days did you have to complete the Tusk OP?

Agreed. I was just running my game plan for this contract, and see that I can bring 21 qualifying tanks Online for the final two stages (by "Online" I mean fully equipped and crewed without purchase of a tank. Actually have 34 qualifying tanks in the garage, but those other 13 tanks are Tier X's with no crew nor equipment). And what are the odds that I manage 21 First Wins on any given day? Think I have an additional 21 fully ready tanks that qualify at Tier VIII for stages 7 and 8.

I know with the original Tusk contract I said "nope" right from the start and never selected it. I'd take a crack at the new Tusk contract, but The Machine is just so much more attractive both as a tank and a contract that I abandoned the Tusk at Stage 5 yesterday to start this.

I am glad WG runs both contracts together so we don't have too much of any single class at the same time.

Agreed!

I was actually more than a little surprised to see the way increased flexibility for the machine contract.

To me, that's a bad sign that the devs see wot as being on its last legs.

But I hope not

I think it has been for a while.

Ironically, probably when they brought out Mercenary tanks to begin with.

Just look at the forum, threads are staying on the main page for a long time now, whereas before they'd need constant activity.

Now, I know that the forum users make up a small percentage, but that small percentage is shrinking which is indicative of the the overall population doing the same thing.

I am actually lucky to know my favorite tanks are perfect for the early stages.  Looking forward to stages 4-5 :D

I see what you mean. Although RabidSasquatch0 has provided the answer already, just for the sake of being precise and concise, I shall provide the exact number:

The contract started on Tuesday July 31st, 2018, with a projected expiration on December 24th, 2018. that's 146 days total.

I still haven’t started the Machine contract. But I’ve read it’s description so - Yes. The Machine contract this year seems much better and considered in every way compared to the most boring one (Tusk from the previous year). Thanks WG. :great:

There could have been plenty of reasons to weaken the contract's requirements;

obviously, having more participants by loosening the rules. Another possible parameter, to lessen the impact on the battles, distributing the total effort on multiple Tiers and categories.

Mind you, I was surprised War Gaming did its on player poaching by advertising WoW on WoTM.... some of the CC's I was following have switched to WoW since it is out... that's unethical lol....

Do you actually have your "own" incognita account? being the "RaiBOT01", you have an easy pick on all the tanks in the game. But I am thinking you may have your personal account, so you can play without becoming a target?

I would not read too much about game survival based on the forum's activity; as you correctly pointed out, the recurrent forum contributors are probably between 5 and 10%; I think MaxChaos provided the exact number once, but I cannot remember what it was.

A lot of the players only come to the forum when they have something they need to complain about, or when they want to tell they are leaving. It is human after all.

At the beginning of 2019, many usual suspects have predicted this year would be the last. They provided clues as to why.

I usually play every day of the week, only mornings; I have yet to observe a significant change in the queuing time. Or if there is, it has not yet happened to me.

I spend time reading the threads in the forum, and I am familiar with the usual suspects.

And we have returning players that have lapsed and gotten back.

I am happy that WG made this contract much better than previous contracts; it is still a grind but doesn't make me feel like smashing my Xbox.  Good Job WG!

Quit the tusk contract yesterday and started the Machine.  I was on Stage 6 and mathematically had a strong change to finish tusk.  However, I was faced with 0 grinding tanks (not counting the tier 8 french td that I was hoping to finish prior to tusk completion).  I also was not keen on the tusk.  I only did contract as I was working my frenchies.   Bought Comet and IS-M for early stages of Machine.  For stage 10, I have 16 tanks.  I can buy 5 more today.  I will soon unlock a 6th (FV215b).  I will likely unlock the 705.  This will be such a more enjoyable grind at the back end.  I liked the tusk until Stage 5.  Worse condition is set a tank on fire.  1.333 million xp total.  100 days = 13.3 k per day.  5 wins on working tanks based on 50% win rate = 10 battles at 6 minutes average per battle = 1 hour a day.  That leaves 40 days of wiggle room.  Meanwhile, I will be working on some new and dormant lines.  My only fear is that the Sharpshooter comes out in 2 months and it has eliminated the dreaded 2 High Calibur in an US light tank requirement.

Knipsel CrunchU,

Stage five of the Machine requires to set an enemy on fire; and to bring insult to injury, it seems that several of the players managed that fate using the Tusk....

Err...uh, excuse me.  I just got back from taking my dog for a walk in the park....still no machine.

Honestly though, I wonder if WG reducing the effort a little is aimed at players like me.  I haven't completed 1 contract.  I tried the needle, but I didn't like being told which tank I had to play nor when, nor how much  The Machine contract may be the reason I try again as it sounds a lot like our new OP's set up.  And I like it.

I'm just saying.....

I saw one today. I honestly wonder how much money they spent on it.

I saw one yesterday, and I wondered how it was possible to have it a few days after it was released. I am still at stage 2.
