On paper yes, and that's why I don't play it, because for me the CAX's gun hit's the dirt more often than the FV

That's like saying 0 degrees C just feels colder than 32 degrees F. It doesn't make any sense.

As for what I would rather fight? The 4202 any day. The hull armor gives people a big head and it's as easy to pen with HEAT as the cax. The cax can camo snipe my balls off with HEAT and frankly having to fight that kind of tank in a heavy blows. As for the 4202 you can out HE trade it's HESH with almost any big gun and HEAT spam it easily when it's not hull down.

It's not even really in the top 5 for tier ten mediums tbh but the hull armor should make the 4202 easier to play for players with less experience in tier ten.

I'll say it like this. When I see a super uni in a 4202 I sigh with relief as I know I won't get HEAT spammed.

MOEs so I can pretend like they matter

I never said it makes sense, I said the FV's gun is more reliable for me.  I stopped playing the CAX because some games it trolled me hard.  The FV doesn't do that so for me, it feels more consistent,

4202 are easy kills, hit where the gun comes out of the turret almost guarnteed pen AX trumps it easy

The FV4202's armor is significantly stronger than the AX's armor everywhere except the turret ring, and even then guns with 250mm pen or more (which is most tier IXs and Xs, and with gold ammo almost every tank tier VIII and up) can pen both tanks in the turret ring anyway.

The FV4202 does have different dispersion values than the AX, so it does make some sense that many people find its gun to be more reliable.

I just looked.  one has the L7A1 and one has the L7A2....are those guns identical or different?

The CAX just gets along better with me.  The 4202 was my first X way, way back, so there's some nostalgia, but in term of execution, the CAX just "clicks" better with me.

How do you know this? The only way you could get this information is via tanks.gg which references PC vehicles. And according to tanks.gg the Centurion has better traverse dispersion and better moving dispersion.

I'm just sick of this nostalgia for the FV4202 that people seemed to be so intoxicated with. It's delusional.

One shoots HEAT and one shoots HESH. As far as the console community knows, the DPM, accuracy, velocity aim time are all the same. The old 4202 had worse tank moving and traverse bloom than the Centurion, but we can't see those figures. So if you shoot APCR, the guns are exactly the same with a chance the 4202 gun is sightly worse.

No it isn't. The tank now has better mobility and a far better turret. That isn't nostalgia, the tank is simply a monster, for those who know what weak spots are anyway, it always required that but that the HESH is what makes it unique. The CAX is better at dealing with super heavies but the 4202 is better against everything else

You can see both moving and turret rotation dispersion values in game by looking at a tank's gun stats. Tanks.gg doesn't have accurate stats for the FV4202 since it hasn't been in the game for a very long time now.

Also, nostalgia aside I do firmly believe the FV4202 is a better tank than the AX and one of the best mediums period. Its armor is stronger and more usable, its mobility as a whole is better, and its premium HESH shells make it a very high skill ceiling medium that is very effective and removing lower tier tanks without losing much health.

The old 4202 was very accurate. I had no issues with its dispersion. The CAX however, for me anyway, is sometimes trolly. I had a game in the CAX some time ago where I missed my target completely with 3 fully aimed, fully zeroed shots. The 4202 has never treated me that way. Additionally with VStabs, as you well know, the bloom is small to start with

This thread has turned into "I don't care what the numbers say. The tank that I played 4 years ago gives me a warm fuzzy feeling"

That’s not what it is.  People who have played it, who liked it and did well in, are giving their experience in the tank and comparing/contrasting with the CAX.

Its no more complicated than that and I’m not sure why that bothers you

Using the stats the 4202 is better for an aggressive playstyle. Plus it can do the hull down role just as well as the CAX. Not sure why you are struggling here

Other Question: optics or vents?

410m base+vents+food+viewrange skills should be enough on most maps but on the other hand i really like good viewrange

What do you run in your 4202?

I have negative bias towards the FV4202, but I can see why others might like it nowadays.

I'm just not going to grind the bloody thing out yet again for those improvements to specific parts of the tank.
