This was my first battle of the day in the AMX CdC on El Alamein; good match making, no SPG, no light.

This was possibly a 2000 raw XP battle, and then I completely ruined it by letting enthusiasm take the better over caution. I thought I was unbeatable, and that IS-3 brought me back into reality. I may have gotten away if I had not been overreaching at the beginning of the battle. I completely forgot I was not fast enough to reach my spot.

Morale of the story? never let confidence take over... I still got my first sniper objective, but I could have done a lot better...

My daily outcome. Seems if your over confident you can score big sometimes,  expect when you don’t.

Trying and failing is quick path forward in learning. If you don't take risks you don't fail and learning is slower.

Overconfidence usually gets me killed. When I have something like a boost on, I try to play more conservatively, let the battle develop before I commit myself. If I'm in a fast tank, I shouldn't keep driving to the red cap until I get spotted as I'll usually be far away from green support, best to drive 50% of the way, hide in a bush, then let them come to you and get spotted.

IS-3's still give a nasty surprise now and again. In this game if you hadn't pushed forward aggressively and lost half your health early on, you would have survived that hit from the IS-3 and been able to clean up.

I have developed a personal rule:  never play a tank I just had a great game in.  My over confidence sends me back to the garage within 2 mins every time!

Overconfidence is a big contributor to my early trips back to the garage. I have to keep reminding myself to play it smart and play it slow. I have to learn to stop being too aggressive. Another problem I have, which could be in relation to overconfidence, is I tend to cover our weak spots on the map. If a majority of my team goes left at the beginning of the match then I go right. I don't know why, but I hate going with the larger crowd.

Yep, guilty of this myself.  It's hard to just leave a flank open, even though you know you can't hold it on your own.

But the corollary to over confidence is not contributing, not early enough, so once the other team starts the wipe out, you end up regretting having not been more useful before.

So, there is a fine line between holding up and overconfidence. I can never get it right!!!
