Go to a cemetery. Participate in a memorial. Go to a nursing home and talk to a veteran of the landings, because that's where most of them are now and they would love the company.

My grandad never spoke much about the war, other than he was a motorcycle messenger and had to dodge the enemy (and allied planes) a lot. He always found it too upsetting. The things those guys and gals must’ve seen must be respected and honoured just as much as the memories of those that gave the ultimate sacrifice......on both sides! Pray to god it never happens again!
