Yes. Artillery is a broken mechanic and should be removed.

Voted No because i mostly play arty nowadays. Its much more relaxing. I also always on a lookout for names from this forum so that i can poop on them exclusively if the opportunity presents itself, which is something i relish when it occurs.

The sec he got spotted he could of tool cover at H5/J5 behind the rock.

I warned everyone this +1/-1 test would quickly lead to other "requests".

 

Let's cut to the chase, get rid of all tiers and class of tanks except for Russian tier VIII mediums and get rid of all maps except for... say... Highway.

 

That should solve everyone's "fair and balanced" issues.

He made a mistake by being in the open in a Heavy. 

 

There was cover on his left.

He was moving for roughly 90 seconds before he was spotted. Presumably the tank that spotted him was either communicating or the arty player was intentionally watching the tank spawn specifically. What I would argue this clip demonstrates more than anything is that the map size is much too small nowadays for the tanks we have. The way spotting in the game works needs reworked or non-lights need that drastically reduced. Ensk is a prime example of a map that is FAR too small for an arty. On Ensk its rare that an arty even gets a shot in before being sighted and destroyed. I would also argue that for each game like this clip, there are dozens more that arty misses due to being aimed at the wrong spot, or the arty is basically demolished by an autoloader that sped passed all other tanks. I am well aware of how the Maus gets targeted with arty. Specifically you shouldn't stick to the center of the map in that tank anyhow. He was headed to a very large open plain where he would have been picked apart quickly. It would have demonstrated precisely why you need to know the tank your in and the map your on to be most effective. It isn't that most tanks cannot leave spawn without being hit by arty its that most teams don't know how to counter scouts and that the scouting in this game is kinda bad already given the small size of maps. Its also true many people don't know how to play their tanks... You constantly see people driving the Tiger II around corners to fire exposing their weak sides rather scraping as they should be.

 

tl;dr Arty is fine, scouting needs reworked, we need bigger maps and people suck at this game.

That cover would have rendered him useless until the enemies capped his base.  You're making a bogus point.

Id go for a no artillery playlist as long as theres a no auto-loader playlist, a no lights playlist and so on.

 

I miss the old school game, a bit slower paced with tactics. WG have tried to turn this game into CoD with auto-loader clip kills.

 

Yeah Id play no lights no artillery playlist quite regular... Or at least until I get sick of Soviet easiums.

He spawned in a wide open space, there's no way to avoid that unless he was in a better tank that didn't go 20. Try avoiding artillery in a Maus yourself.

I week of 3 arty per team minimum would be better .  I know a few bots that can fill in for meatbag clickers.

Sad thing about this post is no matter what you do. You're "always" camping to this guy which is pathetic. Arty id a bad mechanic and needs to be either removed or major change. Quit using arty to say you need to stop being aggressive

Not my vehicle, but great observation?  Secondly, that is at the beginning of the game showing how you can't even leave your own spawn as a slow heavy tank without being hit by arty.  I don't understand why some people think its ok to be able to completely wreck certain vehicles when they have no chance at all to even attempt to leave their spawn.
