That I really have no business playing at Tier IX-X. The grind to "earn" the Machine was not fun for me, mostly aggravation, and it was made clear to me that I do not have the skill set and/or patients to play Tier IX-X. (the only exception is the Sheridan)

My wheel house is Tier V - VIII and frankly, I am good with that.

Tier 10 is awful. The gameplay there is worse than in tier 2. I find 6-8 to be the most enjoyable too, and tearing apart a potato tier 10 when driving a tier 8 is always fun.

I determined this Machine contract is going to be my last merc contract ever. I don’t mind the tiers, but hate being restricted to being only able to play so many tanks and/or certain tanks. After a while I want to shake it up, play a tier V or VII then go back to X, etc etc. It’s just not fun to have to be perpetually stuck at tier IX/X for the duration of said contract.

Yeah, I guess I’m in the minority in liking tier 10 :)

I decided a long time ago that I was not going to do any MERC contracts. The only reason for the Absolution in my garage was we earned it. (Well, and it's a tad OP :child:)  But then the Machine contract came along, and not counting the cost of the grind ahead of time, I decided to go for it. Yes it will also be my one and only MERC contract.

Tier 5 through 8 is everyone's wheelhouse.  Not many players have higher Wn8 at 9-10 than 5-8.

The tier V and VI contracts were not as brutal since the time it took to complete them were much shorter and the tier spread was higher.  The only reason I did the Machine contract was the fact that I had a healthy amount of tanks (10-12) to choose from in tiers IX/X.

I would have went insane if it were like the first Tusk contract where you could only use 4 tanks in the end stages!! That was the reason I avoided the Tusk altogether.

After the Tusk frustration last year because of very restrictive tank choice, I thought I would never go for the Tier 10 Merc contracts again. But with the variety of tanks available at the ridiculous tier 9 and 10 grinds, I was able to stomach getting it done, and I do enjoy getting to know the Machine.

And with the longer completion windows, i felt it was easier to take breaks and play some fun tanks.

Taking breaks to play tiers 6-8 is definitely refreshing during the long final stage grinds because yes, Tier 10 is incredibly frustrating.

It is funny to see my results change so dramatically when I grind for the contract vs playing tanks I enjoy at lower tiers. If I cared about WN8, I would never grind through tier 10...

For the final stage of the Tusk the previous year it was something like 970K XP if my memory serves me well. And it was available for only 2 tanks: Sheridan and AMX 13-105. It was insanely boring but I finished it that way.

That’s the only reason I’ve played them that much:

AMX 13-105 is No 2 in my tanks list by battles count. Only Churchill III has more.

For comparison - AMX 13-90 is No 4 (incl. grinding of 4 tanks: AMX 13-105 itself and the older 3, while 13-90 was still T-VIII - AMX 30, Bat. Chat. 25 T AP and Lorr. 40 T) and I’ve used it also for Tusk lower stages while it was eligible.

And Sheridan is closing No 6.

That's the other "let down" so far... I have not been impressed with the Machine. Now I am not talking about when playing it myself, but facing it in battle. The gun seems to be over the top troll, every round either pens, or it bounces....

I have only played a few games, but I can see enjoying the playstyle, which does feel a bit unique to me. It definitely feels like a gambit kind of tank, i.e. just as you said every round shot can either pen and you feel great or have some ridiculous bounce and you have to try and scurry for reload.

Kind of funny when in the right state of mind.

The Vanguard experience is so much fun and really is quite unique. I do think the machine offers a bit of unique tanking experience too... but with uniqueness comes good and bad trolling

But man the damage adds up quickly with this Machine

i was in the Tier VIII French premium heavy the other day, a Red Machine rolled the hill in front of me, bounced his whole clip off the front, he backs up, re-loads, and bounces 3 of the next 4 shots. Then, other times, I've been pretty much clipped out... almost like the Waffle.

I'm not a fan of Tier IX or X either. I used to unlock the Tier X's but not buy them and now I unlock the Tier IX and not bother with them either. Tier V to VIII is definitely where the most fun is for me.

Why I don't favor the auto-loaders. You bounce most of the clip and then have to wait 20-30 seconds or more only to bounce again.

Whereas with single shot tanks you know another round will be ready to bounce in seconds.

lol... exactly.  Had a game yesterday where the red team was capping, I am in the Rover, fired 10 shots in a row at the tank that was capping, all bounced (he had 43 hp left) just as they are finishing off the cap, I fired one last shot... killing him. Of course it was too late because they had capped.

It was so sad (and predictable) I couldn't help but to laugh.

yea the +1/-1 test really didn't affect tier X play much, except maybe to see more full Tier X battles.

The Tusk is just ridiculously tight on tanks for what ultimately is a meme tank.

The Machine was easy with it's mix and ended up with 17 tanks for the Hardcase.

The Sharpshooter worked well with my tier grinds. i guess I'll never tackle the Tusk!
