The reason some players hate arty so much is because they are too lazy to play their tanks arty safe.  When I play arty, there are some tanks that I end up ignoring because they are too hard to hit.  Those players move unpredictably, back and forth, turn this way, that way.  When I see a player doing that I know I'll miss my shots on him and move onto someone else.

That someone else is usually the one with super armor who just wants to sit hull down in one spot and laugh as enemy tanks can't pen his turret.  Well, that's real fun for him, but arty shells dropping in from above keep them honest.

Cracks me up when I get hate mail from someone who gets mad because their happy advantage got ruined.

Thankfully WG'ing has stated they have no intention of removing arty.

Some players' arty hate might stem from laziness, but you can't say that that is true for all players who hate arty.

You can drive erratically all you want, arty can still hit.  In fact, I recommend arty players target fast tanks more often.  My experiences getting hit by arty while moving have led to believe that the shots will be guided to hit my tank.  If the shell flight time is 3 seconds, think how far a light tank can travel & turn in that time… yet they still hit way too often.

Ive seen arty shells Coming toward me from the horizon, like saw the shell leave a bush go up n come down, saw where it was going, moved and it has still hit me. At least 3 or 4 times ive seen this

If you saw it coming, then you had fewer than a couple seconds to move. Assuming you were sitting still when you saw it, that's not enough time to get out of way of the explosion radius.

I love seeing arty shells in flight, btw. Even when my tank is destroyed by one, I think it looks very cool.

Paint with a wide brush much?

If there be any measurable laziness, it may be with regard to the amount of critical thinking you gave to this argument.

I don't get the arty hate either. I don't know if the hate comes from laziness, as plenty of good players hate arty. But I do agree, that there are certain players that are unpredictable and make for a target I'd rather pass on (if I am playing arty). I'm pretty terrible at most arties. I find them too rng based and too team dependent. That is why I think it is so funny when ppl rage about them. The can be a major factor on the battle field but in most cases, I think it is situational.

I see what you are saying...laziness seeks out laziness. I would see why a lazy arty player would seek to get an easy kill from a lazy tank player that is sitting out in the open, not behind cover, etc etc. Why challenge one’s self by attacking or taking out a real target...

It may be a flawed argument, logically speaking, to project the thinking of opponents. However, I subscribe to the idea of arty's value as a tank that can chase hull-down heavies away from their ridge-line perch. I, too, like dropping a couple direct hits on a red Caernarvon, Conqueror, or Machine, among others, when that red tank has the terrain advantage over my teammates. Helping them is what it's all about.

The reason some players hate arty so much is because the people in arty are lazy, sat at the back of the map crunching chips down the mic with their feet up on their lazyboy while firing at people with one hand from satelite view, so yes player laziness is why i hate them.

I platoon with a particular player that likes to play arty while eating lunch or dinner. Once done eating they will move on to playing a real tank.

Its usually when I'm in a fat boii, jap heavies for example. I remember 1 specifically, OI on malinovka. I'm goin up the hill towards the wee windmill thing, see the shell comin from their spawn, its CLEARLY gnna land in front of me, couple feet I'd say. I stop n start backin up, shell hits me directly, none of that splashed shite, just hits me directly.

I do agree seeing the shell comin is pretty cool. That feeling of impending doom as ya see fate flying at ya xD

yup i know a guy that does the same and he has no issues admitting it, he orders pizza and when it arrives he plays arty with 1 hand and eats pizza with the other.

Some people are so easy to hit.

Don't drive in a straight line if you want to avoid being hit.

If you are spotted just drive in a circle.

Shuffle sideways to the arty not backward/forward.

This keeps you in the same aiming ring.

I have had a few games were I dodged a crazy number of shells.
