I'm just curious if WOT allows the use of the old Soviet Union flag on Russian tanks and the Imperial Prussian battle flag on German tanks why can't the Imperial Japanese battle flag (rising sun) be used on Japanese tanks?

Apparently it's offensive in East Asia.

Maybe copy right issues? It's still used by the Japanese Navy.

As a government ensign it is considered public domain.  It's probably because of Chinese censorship.

If you want to be one of the 47 Ronin check out our recruitment post and then send a message to Prof935 (xbox) or dimka935 (ps4).

It's has similar status as certain ww2 German political party symbols here in the West in certain Asian countries. It's mostly done to appease censors in China and avoid possibly offending the Asian market.

The rays on the rising sun were meant to represent the growing empire and its expansion. That is why they were removed after the war, and never to be seen again.

In many countries touched by the Japanese invasion this flag has exactly the same connotation as the swastika and some countries have even banned it. The Soviet regime no doubt committed worse abuses than the other two put together .... but they won the war with the allies. Moreover, Soviet policy has had time to soften and reform under a more human face before collapsing.

Probably the same reason why the German swastika flag isn’t used.

Re-read my previous post I also asked the question at the beginning when I first saw a Fatherland. The fact is that the flag of the Soviet Union is not banned, which is not the case of the Japanese imperial flag and the swastika which is prohibited in some rare countries. WOT being playing all over the world .....

Fair point. However, "my shell was guided by Stalin's hand" wouldn't raise even an eyebrow but switch to "my shell was guided by Hitler's hand" ....

Stalin was the biggest mass murderer the world has ever seen.

The thought is that Stalin killed his own while the Japanese and Nazi killed their neighbours. The Western world is fine when your own but takes a dim view on killing your neighbours. It's funnier how it's described in the video.

Well it's not like mao was exactly slowing down when he hit 30+ million killed. His flag is still in the game too.

Guarantee it's fear of Chinese backlash. Always a problem in Western companies even though almost none of them even make a dime in China. Get locked out of the market tho and the investors will be begin crying like the adult diaper wearing man children they are. Always remember companies are run for one reason alone, to please those investors.

MOEs so I can pretend like they matter
