Other than setting in the back sniping- How do you successfully play this tank? Other than shooting gold and losing 50k silver per game. Frustrating tank

Are you using the 100mm or 122mm gun?

100mm loses alpha damage but is leaps and bounds better at everything else like penetration, ROF,  aim time and accuracy. It is suggested to use the 100mm...avoid brawling with Russian heavies and higher tiers but you can definitely compete against other heavies of the same tier and some tier IX.

Using the 100. It's good against tier 8 but the real heavies t9-t10 is where it seems very weak.

Agree.  It’s a terrible tank, but I have not reached top package yet, so I am reserving my final judgement.  However, trying to work with the 122mm is not much/ any fun.  I haven’t resorted to sniping, as the gun isn’t accurate enough for that, but have only found three tactics which kind of work (with the objective of getting the XP to get out of this thing ASAP)

1) If faced with a higher tier (and some same tier) heavies, firing HE at them to detrack them, hoping that someone will do a major hit on them whilst tracked.  This has been working, and surprises a lot of people.

2) Seeking out distracted mediums or TD’s who are attacking someone else (I.e use hard cover to protect yourself from fire, but protect the flanks of your fellow heavies)

3) if lucky enough to get a top tier game, then try to bully lower tiers.

The only other vital thing is ...

.... never do anything alone in this tank, as you’ll get rushed as people see you as an “easy kill”.  I usually tag along with the top tier heavy (hoping that they are a good player) and try and keep them alive, on the basis that a team win will speed my exit from this trash can.

I can do a 2000 dmg game fairly easy, but it sure is work. And yes sticking with other heavies is good play. Unless it's a tier10 match, once you have the 100 you can distance yourself a little better

I will have to quit leading you into the poop storm with my M46 Patton KR. I seem to find trouble around the corner.:bush:

Levels of damage can be very up and down for me.  I have had good games in the 2K-3K range, but in my experience luck, RNG and your team have to be with you for that to happen.    Can’t wait to get out of this one!

We do seem to find half the enemy team. Usually the only 2 defending :P
