Inspired by WoW commanders WoT commanders could have their own unique skills chosen randomly from a pool of pre set skills.

Heavy specialist: grants 1% extra HP to heavy tanks per level the commander has achieved. There could be one for the other tank types as well.

Pack hunt: allied medium tanks gain a 5% RoF bonus when within 100m of your medium tank

trick shot: increases accuracy by 10% and increases module damage by 5%.

Rock solid: gain a 5% reduction in overall damage(25% versus artillery)

observant: increases line of sight by 10% and reduces enemy camo factor by 2%(5% if target is hiding behind foliage)

Academy instructor: increases crew training level by 5% and increases crew xp gain rates by 1% per level the commander has achieved.

mercenary: 50% boost to silver income and a 2% chance to earn 50 gold at the end of the match.

I think it would be kinda cool if you earned like 1% more xp and silver per rank. Something to make the ranks useful would be cool. Also, still wanting something else to do with my 200 million silver.

Personally I hate this idea and others like it.  It's just another way to get even more advantage over the new and casual players.

It's just to an idea to add more to the game beyond reskins of existing tanks.

My respect for new ideas was not included in my first post.

But really, at this point, I don't think adding power to veteran players is a great idea.  A max skill crew using the existing skills is already a huge advantage.

Not sure how to generate new content, other than new tank trees, and eventually Tier 11 and beyond...

Who would earn them first and have them already when new players join the game?

Well of course players already in game would have them however like WoW the skills would be at lvl 1 even for max rank crews so more crew xp would be needed to level up the skill to max effect. There would be balance and using gold to advance would be very expensive. Also like WoW after lvl 6 a new currency would be needed to continue advancement and after lvl 14 another new currency would be needed. New players would receive a bonus to skill advancement until they reach lvl 7 with the skill, vets on the other hand would receive a slight penalty to advancement to compensate. Maybe like a 10% penalty minimum, while newbs receive a minimum buff of 10%. Vet crews after the skills (possible) application in the game would also receive a penalty when starting after rank 5 while rank 5 crews and under receive a bonus to skill progression.
