Just curious what players would think about this.  We've seen some weeks where WG has tested some things like +/-1 mm and RNG changes.

What would you say to WG testing changes to tanks without announcing it?  Now you may think that is devious or behind the back, but the point of not announcing it would be to get a truer sense of the data as people will alter their behavior if they know about it.

So, since one of the most complained about things is Deathstar HESH penetration, what would you say about a week of unannounced testing?  That can even be followed by a week of announced testing and the information can be compared.

My guess is they can run simulations based off of real data (what would have penned if the pen was decreased?), but that would not account for individual's change of behavior in match.  So this would be better data.

Thoughts?

The game would be a hell of a lot better if they did stealth nerf the HESH on it.

Will WG ever have WoT offline like they promised?

No, we don't want to give them carte Blanche to fiddle with whatever without telling anyone.

When it comes to changes on the live server it's better we get told upfront.

No good.  I'd be pretty angry if I set aside a day to work on something specific only to find later that it was wasted because something was secretly changed that day which hindered my efforts.  Keeping it above board is the right way to do it.

If you want to be one of the 47 Ronin check out our recruitment post and then send a message to Prof935 (xbox) or dimka935 (ps4).

Yea they should if they're going to test anything. Otherwise it's not a test. As long as they keep their testing reasonable the data they'd get would be more useful than treating it like an event

They did technically test bots in low tier without announcing. Or do I have that wrong?

No.  This is not good.

There are already rampant communication issues (some through ignorance / internal miscomm and others done purposefully).  This has led to an air of mistrust as it is, already.  WG doesn't need more of that between them and this playerbase.

Sure why not, they barely communicate with their customers as it is, might as well fully commit to keeping their playerbase in the dark instead of doing it and then saying "oh no, trust us, we don't try to torture people by withholding information for the sake of it".

People already rant about hidden nerfs. The super secret super Pershing nerf has become a meme at this point, and the T34-88 nerf conspiracy thread from a week or two ago to name just a couple and that's while it's not actually true.

Imagine the backlash and mistrust after every update if they do deliberately change tank stats without telling anyone.

Here's another consideration I thought of:  What if they announce the tank but not the change?

I think we should have it like PC.  Get rid of the Super Tester program, and have a public test server separate from the live game.

PC still has super test program. The test servers are somewhat of a joke however. They end up being used more to find bugs more than get any useful game play data from. If memory serves the test server issues is part of why they started the sand box stuff.

My question is this:  If they did it secretly, and said they didn't...How would you know?
I'm just saying.....

That is terrible practice.

People already accuse Wargames of changing things without telling anyone. Can you imagine if they actually did start testing changes unannounced?

Because then a good chunk of console WoT players will play exclusively on that and wg has already said we make them a lot more money than pc players despite the population differences. :)
