The Merc Frankentanks/Tankensteins are ruining the game for several reasons, they are ugly made up fantasy creations that would have no chance of working in real life, many of them are Op, broken or unbalanced in some way and they make the players that try to earn them behave more idiotic than the usually do.

This could just as well be the next  Merc "tank".

I was watching some WWII show on TV and one of my kids asked "Where are the fun looking Mercenary tanks?" WoT is destroying an entire generation's understanding of history.   :teethhappy:

A blast straight out of my childhood. “Army Surplus Special”, totally fits the Merc. profile.

Luckily you are there to set them straight. My poor daughter was subjected to all sorts of things military from a young age. Her father is kind of a freak about those things.

Quick question, what are the pros of mercenary tanks? I can list a bunch of cons. Don't give me additional content as it's junk content and as such belongs in the cons column.

They add content to the game and for some that have already unlocked virtually every tank in the game it gives them something to do. That’s about all I have.

Oh, they are also cash cows.

I mean it is something to work towards that keeps people playing the game. Sure the grind is long, but it is about the same for tech tree tanks of the same tier. It gives them a chance to introduce more content which is rarely a bad thing. It also allows weird tanks into the game. Historical accuracy isn't something that I personally care about. Also, more whales skipping contract stages = WG making $ = game lasting longer in a better state because they have the resources to manage the game better.

The whole implementation of Mercs was done exactly how it shouldn’t have been. If they would have stuck to the original plan it would have been awesome.

WG Balance 101, If a tank has a high survival rate, nerf its gun.

So I just finished the Machine contract and I gotta say it’s a relief to be finally done with it.

I am not a fan of the whole Merc idea. Banana Buster, Beach Party, T.A.N.K., Turtle, etc. most have no basis on actual tanks. So instead of a Swiss line, or a line of Small Nation tanks we get these ridiculous things that require grueling long time grinding to acquire. This contributes to player burnout. Which contributes to loss of player base. Which in turn contributes to sketchy MM. Add seal clubbing in and we are not only losing veteran players we are not keeping new ones either.

I sold my previous 2 Mercs and used the silver to buy M48 Patton but am on the fence about Machine. In principle I do not like it but it’s prowess on the battlefield is undeniable.

You answered your own question.    I avoid them because they are stupid.  So no stress.

In many peoples eyes I think one can sat YES. When the games began it was a game about tanks of the WW II era. Then some blue print only tanks get added and we said OK, someone was designing them so it could have happened. Some people stay, some leave. Then some clearly broken tanks get put in, some get the nerf hammer, some stay broken. Some people stay, some leave. Then anime tanks get added. Never existed, not even on blue prints. Some people hate them and leave, some people like them and stay. I think you can see where I am headed, so we fast forward to MERC. Tanks. Since they introduced them the daily player #s have stayed about the same the past few years. So when looking at the #s of players since MERC. the daily # has not changed much, I would have to say NO, it just changes the way people play. Some players leave, some players stay. And seems that if the daily players # are correct if people left, equal # of players started or came back. (unless those get filled by bots)

P.S. I have had friends that have stopped playing and blame MERC. tanks but when you talk to them they seemed to have burnt out on a grinding game.

Just my 2 pennies.

No its not even close in fact you could grind three or four TT's of the same tier for just the XP of a Merc. and that's not getting into the medals and other conditions.

Welcome to the forums. Where you can call people stupid, just don't call them passive-aggressive.

It's about 1 million exp from tier 1 to tier 10 so it is fairly close. Add in the fact that the tank is free and you get stuff along the way and it pretty much evens out if you. The Chisel is 500k more exp than the average tier 10 and that's about 20k gold worth of free exp. 20k gold is 8 million silver. Since you get the tank for free plus other stuff, the cost almost exactly evens out. It's almost like WG calculated it to be that way (they definiely did lol). Sure you don't get the tier 8 or 9 on the way there but I usually end up selling those tanks anyways (and losing silver on the grind too). You also don't have to play any stock or crappy tanks along the way so the grind, IMO, is more enjoyable. As far as medals, I rarely have a problem completing those before I get the exp.

I hate the Mercenary tanks. They're the main reason I decided not to spend any more money on the game.

I used to buy 24 000 gold twice a year. Last time I did that was on May 2018. A month later the Mercenaries were introduced. Then two months after that the repair wheel fiasco in August 2018 together with moon gravity for 3 months made me decide that the money I spent on this game were making the game worse. The only logical action was to stop spending money on the game. Let those who enjoy the Mercenaries support the game now.

RaiBot supposedly said "Mercenaries are not for everyone". I say, World of Tanks Mercenaries is not for everyone.
