Can we have some FUN events rather than this. Togboats,lunar chafee,etc. Its good to do something fun and have the opportunity to train crews at the same time. I played commander before and didn't enjoy it and looking at the feedback lots of current players don't seem to be having much fun with this revamped version

I have finished all available ops, playing as both Commander and Tanker.

I initially enjoyed playing in Tanker mode, that is up until those playing Commander mode realised they could rent a Chrysler K and put one in each of the 3 own choice slots AND one in each of the heavy only slots. All they need to do is drive around the map and focus fire each Tanker in turn. All you can do as a Tanker is hope you get the Berlin map since the Berlin map favours the Tanker team greatly.

I only started playing on Commander mode after completing all Tanker ops, so I rented the Chrysler K, put it in all available slots and stormed round the battlefield, laying waste to all before me, easy, apart from Berlin but even then I came up with a workable strategy that meant I usually won.

On the whole I enjoyed it. You can't grumble about free gold but the issue with adding rented tanks to multiple slots must be fixed otherwise subsequent stages of this op will be a frustrating grind.

Another thing I have noticed whilst playing which I'm pretty sure is a bug, is the square mini map on Murovanka doesn't match up to where tanks are.

 

Tanks will show up as being town side of the western hills but are in actuality on the hill or the other side to it.

Also as previously mentioned by other forum users in posts prior to this one, AFK players or those who seem to do very little in rounds seem to receive more XP than those that do.

 

These usually seem to be the tanks that are selected at random when players select the "Tanker" option instead of one from their own collection such as the Audace. Unless I have missed somewhere that selecting this option gifts more XP than a tank that is owned by a player.

 

A game I have just finished a winning game where the Audace player who penned one shot and did no assist received 84 more xp than a player who did over 2k combined, blocked over 3k and actually killed a tank.

Yup. Seems all they do is pick tanker and let the game select the tank. Go straight down the middle of the map and die. Rinse and repeat. 

Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm

I played a few rounds as a tanker to close out the summer Charlie op.  Played my AMX 50 100 with standard ammo (and no consumables) but still lost silver every time, despite having battles with 3K+ damage and multiple kills,  Yes, I got some points for Charlie (~ 10), but turns out it wasn’t much fun killing bots, or trying to run away from a “bot swarm” when you get spotted.  

 

As as others have said, some maps are better for tankers (Berlin) and others better for commanders (Prokhorovka).  

 

Overall, still feels like an early beta of a game mode with lots of things still to work through to make it compelling.

This mode is bored as hell, and lack of players shows where is mode place.

feedback - 

 

I felt like I needed a separate team composition for commander vs commander rather than commander vs tankers... and was quite annoyed whenever commander vs commander came up... :angry: 

 

Having a unique comp for each map would have also been nice but not as dire as whether I'm going against tankers or commanders which makes a massive difference in stategy.

 

Berlin and hidden village heavily favored tankers against me as the commander and while prok and murovanka heavily favored me as the commander. 

 

Overall though I enjoyed this mode much more than in the past... gj!


When a person resorts to attacking the other person rather than focusing on the issue (aka argumentum ad hominem), it becomes pretty clear they have nothing else to contribute and are wrong.

Did not play the commander mode, because I dont have enough tier 8 tanks. And to rent was too expensive in the end.Sad, I liked this mode.:(

I was playing tanker Mode and i can say that the enemy Bots can hit u all time. When u get spotted i dont needs a second and u get min 2 Hits! Like they know where u are when u are Not Spotted. Also when u are Not Open and u shoot and u dont get spotted they hit u also. When Bots turn turrets to u they shoot and hit but gun dont look at u. The accuracy of the bots is to high! 

I mean i was playing the little vanguard elc 90 and driving full Speed and Bots hit me all time. Doesnt make Fun to Play commander Mode (tanker)

I tried this commander mode a bit with my own tanks, but it just was not fun as multiplayer so I lost interest to it quite fast.

 

Pros.

  • You can use your own tanks
  • Basic controls tips were visible and easy to find
  • Basic controls were easy to use
  • Battle balance seemed to favor tankers when commander just rolled whole team into cap.
  • Battles were more interesting when playing Tanker
  • Map were good for the game mode

 

Cons.

  • Spaws were constantly same, game started to repeat it self and get predictable.
  • Commander setup takes time if you use your own tanks
  • Playing as Commander was less profitable than Playing as Tanker
  • Renting tanks was expensive and tank selection was too limited to be interesting
  • No possibility to start quick Commander battle with random free tanks to learn controls
  • Bot's don't have any sense of self preservation nor did they understand that enemy was capping the circle close to them.
  • Commander did not have option to use arty
  • Command wheel did not work when commander possessed a tank

 

What I would improve as first priority is the bot AI. I would add more freedom to them depending how many skills the tank crew has.  Secondly, I would add use of Communication wheel and give ability to command bots just like bots in War Stories. This use of command wheel would give commander a possibility to participate in the battle and keep some level of troop command.  Third change would be the reward system, It needs to be profitable for player to run his own tanks without stripping them down first.   Finally, I would evaluate possibility to run commander mode also in tier IV so that new players would get a change to participate with their own tanks. (not in tier III or V due to some OP tanks ).

Don't make me pay rent to try Commander mode and I might try it.

I came to play World of Tanks, not RTS World of Tanks. But I'd give it a fair shot if it wasn't so pricey.

I didn't want to commit silver or time without a trial first.

But now, if it's too late to earn the same long term rewards as everyone else because I didn't try it this time, there's no way I'll even try it next time, even if it's free.

Commander mode was decent it didnt take that long to finish the op, the biggest problem was the 'skill' of the bots haha like you can be aiming through a small window and they will turn there turret and fire and hit you before there turret has even stopped moving I will post a link below so you can see it yourself but the bots need a lot of work, it would also be better if there were more maps as out of the 4 I played hidden village probably a good 60-70% of my battles.

I disagree with the first part of this, I paid 500k to rent a tank for a week and 1.5mil to rent a tank for season (159 days) thats cheap as chips pal haha  but your right the tank selection was pretty limited

Hated it completely waste of my time I'll stick to playing standard multiplayer. Dont matter the reward at the end just not worth my time.

I will reiterate some of the bullet points of my personal feedback....

 

1) Need more Ops for Commanders so they can earn Points equally with Tankers.

 

2) Need Commander Ops not predicated on escalating survival rates for tanks.

 

3) Needs greater restrictions on tank choices for Commanders to avoid a 5-deep wall of Chryslers that can hands-down steamroll any team of Tankers.

 

Some additional feedback.....

 

1) Let Tankers at least queue up in Squads of 2-3.... especially if no action is taken to prevent the “wall of Chryslers”.

 

2) Announce the Reward Vehicle before the next season starts.

I only tried tanker mode a few times- it was--- ok

Seemed these games had two outcomes:

Either it was an open map and the commander team swamped the two tanks on our team that ran off on their own, then came as a group and crushed the rest of us

or

Tankers got Berlin and murdered the commander team

 

Playing as a commander seemed like too much work for me, in terms of setup, spending silver, arraying tanks and fighting with them all in a battle.  My limited game time usually prevents me from doing anything other than playing a view games a few days a week
