a player on either your own team or the reds scores more damage than you but rams or gets rammed by another

Yep it can only go to one player and if they are disqualified it goes to the next player.

Happened to me last night. Team mate rammed the enemy tank into me so aggressively i lost HC chance. Demoralizing to say the least

Your friend must have hit you too. Makes no sense to lose it on an enemy tank hitting you.

You have to ram hard enough to do damage if there was FF what what I always heard.  That light tank might not weigh enough to do damage to the M4.  It's really touchy.

Don't forget the stipulation that you must do enough damage to exceed 20% of the enemy team's hit points.

That is around 5k for a tier X match.

Ramming hard enough that it would do damage (if friendly fire was enabled) will take the HC away, which is why light tanks can play bumper cars with most other tanks and still get HC medals.

I have accidentally run into lower tier teammates in my Rampanzer that caused them to turn nearly 90 degrees and visibly move them well into a battle and still get the HC. If they had been red I have no doubt the hit would have destroyed them. It has also happened with other, higher tier tanks, and I still got the HC.

If they're in motion, it's much easier to rotate them.  That may or may not explain it.

Because there are factors in play that aren't always shown in the user interface.

I know I lost a High Caliber once because of ramming a friendly, unless Wargaming has a secret "no High Calibers" switch that was on for that match.

That was a while ago, so they also may have changed the requirements in an update.

well I did turn him or her 90 degrees and they shot me after in frustration.

It was definitely enough to cause damage

I do not believe this is correct. If the high damage dealer causes what would have been friendly damage on pc he/she is disqualified. But consequently no other player can be the high damage dealer. I don't think a high caliber is given at all in much more than 50% of games.

Not necessarily.  I've spun red tanks around without damaging them.  Track could have taken the contact. I still say ramming disqualifies you if you hit hard enough do HP damage. It shouldn't be in the game either way.

I have actually developed the theory that since damage to a friendly vehicle is not possible in the game, short of pushing a teammate over a cliff or into water they can't get out of, High Caliber isn't going to be effected by hitting friendly tanks. I got bumped into by a Japanese heavy at the end of a match for my 2nd HC stage 5 of the Chisel contract and still got the HC medal.

Screenshot of actual damage from game. When i get time I'm going to add reds up. I should be close to 23% damage from quick scan without calculator

If they were red, the Japanese Heavy probably would not have taken damage from you from this casual bump, correct?   One way of explaining why you still got your medal.

You said the Japanese Heavy bumped you, not that you bumped it.  A second way to explain.

Japanese heavy was my team, ramming reds still leads to loss of HC. I was stressing all the bumps, accidental and deliberate from teammates but I don't think they matter at all. My guess is the language carries over from the old programming which allowed friendly fire, since it's removed from console, friendly bumps don't matter at the programming level. I wouldn't have done more than scratch the Japanese heavies paint job, and he bumped me but I got HC.

I added all hp of red team and assuming they were fully upgraded 20% is 3578. You have 3535. So unless I made an error somewhere you were just a hair short. But either way great match.
