Hello tankers,

 

We have seen several questions from the community regarding the High Caliber Medal, and we would like to clarify the content of the medal and the requirements themselves.

 

High Caliber Medal Conditions:

  • Cause the most damage in the match.
  • Caused damage must be at least 20% of the enemy teams total HP.
  • Caused damage must not be less than 1000 HP.
  • Only damage caused by direct shots are counted.
  • Cannot hit an allied vehicle with a direct shot.
  • If two or more players have an equal amount of damage dealt, the achievement is granted to the player who has earned more XP for battle, including additional XP provided to Premium Account users
  • If the amount of XP is equal as well, the achievement is not granted.

 

Which brings us to the question by player: mjc40

“Does friendly ramming negate High Caliber, or not?”

 

Thanks for the question mjc40!  The medal does not get impacted by friendly or enemy Ramming/bumping since 'directTeamHits' (as they're called) are only calculated for shots, not rams.

 

How do I know how much damage I did in a battle?

We understand knowing what value equates to 20% of the enemy’s team health pool is challenging for players to quantify at the end of the match, as any player would have to go in to the Battle Results Screen, look at the enemy team, add up all their health and then see if the damage made by the player sums up to be 20% of the enemy team tanks’ HP (and no less than 1000 points).

 

It has happened before where players assumed they qualify for a High Caliber Medal when they do not; which gives the notion the medal itself is broken.  We are looking in to adding additional information under contract progress notifications where a medal/ribbon is a Mercenary Contract stage requirement as well as fixing the Medal Description.

 

I hope this clarified the content of the High Caliber Medal!

Please remove "cannot hit an ally with direct shot" requirement from High Caliber medal. It's pointless anyway since we don't have friendly fire on console.

This is why for 5yrs I have requested a counter above both teams in the end screen & in the large map pull up that the potential or available damage of both teams be displayed...This is useful information because of operations just like this & to give a real sense of what you & your team mates did to secure the win not the very misleading leaderboard. But sadly they forum community & staff (including in Super Test) keep shooting the idea down. Now maybe folk will see the value of this idea.

What if you're "shot by" another green team member?  Does that negate the HC medal or only if you're the one doing the shooting?

How is it prejudicial? 

 

Edit: I get it, ram damage doesn't count.  It didn't occur to me that people don't use pretty much only the gun on that tank, because that's how I play it.

Thank You for clearing things up a bit. Since friendly ramming does not count, shouldn't the information on the medal inside the game and our Stat pages be updated? Right now it says something like 'without hitting or ramming a friendly tank'. It would think changing it to 'without shooting a friendly tank' would be better text on the medal.

See above.  I was thinking the same.  I'm sure it'll be updated on the Stats page as some point in the future.

Ah, there it is, thanks. My eyes glossed over it. Six hours of game play is too much for my eyes anymore it would seem.

I just wish there was a verbal command (for the players that are doing you know what) at the beginning of each match:

 

"Commander!! Stop firing warm up shots on your own team mates, you loose out on the opportunity for a difficult to earn medal, and it's irritating as all @*!#"

Only the shooter gets disqualified. I know this because my platoon mate and I use it to disqualify ourselves if its close to a HC and the other player needs the medal. 

WG Balance 101, If a tank has a high survival rate, nerf its gun.

Without friendly damage on there is zero reason to have that as a requirement

Hmmm... in this article it says ramming does not void High Caliber but when I send PM to MaxChaos24 around 6 weeks ago and asked him is the High Caliber medal description correct, does the shootin or ramming your teammate void High Caliber he said "YES, description is correct and it will void the medal". And now you're saying it doesn't void the medal?!? I'm confused.
