Info i gathered :)

CHIMERA FEEDBACK

Qwerty (Petty360):The Bellerophon is just another cent tbh. Just got a better Upper plate. If you've got an Atomic theres not much point. The Chimera is so much fun and generally a completely different animal to play. Unique compared to the Bellerophon. The gun is incredibly hard hitting, when top tier you can play this thing like a heavy tank quite easily.
The gun is awful at anything but close range, when you hit them they know about it however. The armours bouncy, not truly reliable, but bouncy. Manoeuvrability and armour its like an M48 tier for tier, (50 top speed instead of 45) Armour that bounces its fair share but its not something you should downright rely on. And a gun that rolls for near 500 quite often. Pen struggles at tier 10 especially with bad accuracy. It hits its fair share, just depends where it hits. Firing at more than 300m it loves to miss! But then it pixel snipes some ridiculous shot...

Pontiac Pat: The aim time is the worst feature on the tank.  It can manage, but you have to keep in mind that you'll need a moment to get the shot aimed in.  Use the gun like you would a russian 122 and you'll be fine.

thank you for the info! i hope i like it as much as i like the King Dragon. (one of my favorite tanks because it is mobile, has a good turret and has a hard hitting gun.)

this is going to be the last tank i am going to buy for a wile then :) i need to learn to be more frugal with money.

King Dragon is the better overall tank IMO, but the Inferno can be a lot of fun.

If you want to be one of the 47 Ronin check out our recruitment post and then send a message to Prof935 (xbox) or dimka935 (ps4).

Thanks for the thread and responses, I haven't been able to find a lot of actual feedback for the tank that didn't involve appearance complaints....

I saw a few of them doing well in ranked.
kinda like a medium version of the defender.

that is what i was thinking too, kinda like, if a Defender and a Centurion had a baby. which sounds like a fun combination.

fantastic, it hits hard, scares even 9s and some 10s. it is also pretty mobile and the armor is also very very good. (i have bounced E-75s and AMX 50 120s.)

the accuracy is actually pretty good too, though i recommend running vertical stabs and a gun laying drive, since it takes forever to aim.

the only issue it has is making silver, even with cheap shells (700-800ish silver ea) it has issues making more than 90k, even on great matches you may make below 100k.

Edit: the tank loses it's ammo rack a lot as another issue.

It's fun but the gun can be frustrating as all hell with sub par penetration and terrible gun handling. When it behaves itself it is amazing though.

200mm of pen on the standard rounds, really, really derpy shell velocity and a terrible reload - even with all the skills and equipment it's still around 13 seconds.

The pros - I guess it's the "alpha". It rolls regularly above 400 and I've had some 550 ish rolls. The tank has trolly turret armour that works against people that auto aim and fire centre mass or against turrets. I *think* it acts as spaced armour on both the front of the tracks and turret, put it this way I had a Sheridan with the derp come past me and try drive me and he only did 100.

The cons - Well see above:

Derpy shell velocity, poor accuracy (although I have some amazing shots go in)

Terrible aim time, it's almost KV2 esque.

Bad base reload, not much better with fully tricked out crew and tank.

Horrible turret rotation speed

Terrible mobility and top speed, it's really bad and much worse than any other medium, in fact I'd go as far as saying that the Canaervon is more agile and quicker.

Poor hull armour, I don't think I've bounced a single shot to the hull from anything, even the upper plate

Seems to be an arty magnet too, even tier sixes will wreck you and it's so slow and terrible to turn etc that they will make your life a misery.

It honestly would not be OP if they buffed the reload and aim-time, that's how bad it is.

I derped about in it just to see how the armour was, still bounces the odd shot in Tier X battles but it's kinda irrelevant because your alpha is meaningless and most mediums will trade you 2 for 1 and your godawful aim time and reload will get you killed. I'd say you've almost got to play it like a TD with the aim time in higher tier battles, it's really that bad.

Oh, and the HESH shells are garbage for the 5 inch gun. They are only about 50mm of pen, which is practically useless in higher tiers.

The ammo capacity doesn't exactly mean you can afford to carry too many anyway and with the reload you'd be going some to be running out of ammo. The prem shells are APDS I think and about 240mm of pen, not exactly amazing for a tank that sees TX regularly.

Why on Earth does this thing have a 30% silver bonus at tier 8. It should be discounted due to that fact IMO. Guess this may be the new trend. Pay more for less. I picked it up, but giving it a lower silver earn will make it a money pit due to how many tier 10 battles it will be in and throwing gold just to pen the weaker armored tier 10s. At least it's a unique vehicle I guess, but that silver earn needs to be addressed.

The HESH shells do 64 mm of pen and prem shells do 252 mm of pen.

Still garbage.

It's also a joke calling this thing a Quick Firing 5 inch gun. Lolz

Compare the HESH rounds to other British guns of similar calibres

105mm 210 and 105mm on the HE rounds

5.5 inch gun - 260/200 and 70mm on the HE rounds.

120mm - 120mm

183mm - 310/230 and 92mm on the HE rounds

The characteristics of a quick-firing artillery piece are:

  • Buffers to limit recoil, so the barrel can quickly return to position after being fired.
  • breech mechanism which allows rapid reloading
  • Single-piece ammunition, e.g. a cartridge containing both shell and propellant, also called fixed ammunition. (This criterion was sometimes taken as the definition of quick-firing, but many quick-firing guns dispensed with it, using separate ammunition in which the shell and propellant case were loaded separately).
  • The use of 'smokeless powder' - nitrocellulosenitroglycerine or cordite - which created far less smoke than gunpowder, meaning that gun crews could still see their target.
