Has there been any major Nerfs/Buffs that I need to be concerned about?

 

My go to tanks used to be: E75, KV1, T-54, Obj. 140, T29, Hellcat, Cromwell, Borsig, E3

 

Any info would be very helpful, as I'm gonna get back into the game and was wondering what the state of the meta was.

All of those tanks you mentioned are still pretty awesome.... definitely still worthy of “go to” status.  You’ll get differing opinions about “the meta” though....

I believe its just the E3 with a slight nerf in reload, camo and traverse.

The main thing you may notice is the "Iron Rain",   an autoloading Borsig.

World of tanks Auto lock edition,  because aiming shouldn't be a skill.

It also got a gun depression buff over the front.

WG has done next to nothing balance wise, aside from buff the Conqueror, and Centurions and introduce all the new tanks from PC pre-nerfed.

 

i personally left in 2016, didn't stay up to date and was shocked at the amount of new tanks, specifically Russian heavies (they now have 4 tier 10s in the TT, with 3 lines from tier 8 to 10) though they do also have something like 5 tier 10 mediums now too.

 

then there are the Polish tanks, a single light-medium-heavy line, though most are just crappy knock-off Russians.

 

an Italian line, that is mainly crappy knock-off Germans with a special auto-loader mechanic (but terrible DPM nerfs relative to PC)

 

the Czechs, though they are super-nerfed on console.

 

tier 10 lights. 

 

and a French super-heavy line (with major DPM nerfs relative to PC, but still actually decent at 9 and 10)

 

and then a whole TT of clown tanks, the mercenaries. combination tanks mix and matching turrets, guns, and hulls from several nations, with strap-ons (armor that is) everywhere. fortunately the only popular ones are a pair of tier 10s and light tanks.

 

 

 

As for meta, i say the game has gotten even worse from 2016. Tds have thankfully fallen out at high tier, but arty is a practically every game occurrence and people yolo-lemming train with disturbing regularity.  it is definitely a more aggressive meta, far less campy, but far more prone to 3-5 minute rofl-stomp games.

they increased the top speed to 40 ( :facepalm:  )  the E5's cupola was nerfed from 250-270 to 220-240.

yeah, but this is about as good as it got for Tds when i left. (that poor SU-101 :arta:    )

all waffles and death stars to one shot/clip you with constant spam of E5s for impenetrable goodness. this was about 4 months before i got sick of it and went on a break until the "balance" update in feb. 2017 (i had foolishly hoped for an alpha nerf on 155s, pen nerf on HESH, and removed waffle like PC, WGCB BUFFED rof on many TDs and said they will never nerf or remove the waffle or deathstar because removing people's tanks is bad... 3 months after removing the 4202.) that led me to out-right quit.

 

now days the teams are far more mixed. i have only seen a couple games with more than one deathstar a team and waffles are almost non-existent. I've only seen one game with more than one a team that i can recall.

well, whether that is bad or not depends on what exactly the TDs are. if it is a mix of 9s and 10s with no more than 3 waffle/jagdpanzer/deathstar it is fairly decent

Only 1 tier 9 per side.  The problem arises when nobody wants to get smoked and won’t push. yeah. No where near as bad as it used to be though, imo. in fact it is quite the opposite on most occasions now from what i have seen. People are too aggressive and get themselves killed, or suffer too much damage to continue the push when it matters.

Agreed. IMO Merc contracts and especially introduction of the Machine changed tier X battles forever. They are now significantly quicker, pacing is completely different. That doesn't necessarily mean they don't last as long as they used to. According to Max battle length hasn't changed at all, but they feel more dynamic for sure.

 

Maybe that's not such a bad thing... I genuinely don't miss those tier X stalemates we had back in the day.
