I swear if they added a map creator / editor we could finally see maps that are worth playing, and i don't say this to sound rude. But it's obvious that letting the people who actually play the game design some maps just makes sense.

Obviously I don't mean to rely on this feature for EVERY map. But basically. When they do a "console" exclusive map they could potentially grab them from the created ones to replace the horrid maps we have in game.

"But I don't want silly maps being made by 5 year olds"

Of course we wouldn't want to let just anyone design the maps. Obviously you don't want trolls / or people wasting time for no reason, you'd obviously only want the ones who actually care be allowed to design them. So they can just hide it behind a paywall.

make the cost of entry be in gold, say 200-500 gold. To get access to create a map..and the editor would have every type of tree. Bush. Building. Car. ect ect. basically all the games assets, that could be placed down at will.

The fact you would have to pay to do it would basically turn 99.99% of the trolls / time wasters away except for the people (like me and many others) who would actually love to just sit down and design a map that's just as good to play as it would be to look at.

Then. Players can vote on maps they like. By viewing them and visiting them like in the replay system with the free camera

If one particular map gains traction WG can look it over. Make some tweaks if necessary. And not only save money by letting players pay them to make the maps they wouldn't have to spend money making it themselves.

Some of you might be thinking "why should I have to pay them anything" the simple answer to that would be down to the cost of implementation. They cant add in such an editor without getting money out of it. That's unrealistic. so obviously making it monetized makes sense. I would love for it to be a free feature but I'm being realistic

Making it a free service would also be incredibly bad for the game. For the same reason team training rooms are for people with premium accounts...if people could do it for free they would spend all day doing it and not play the game lol

Obviously my vision of such an implementation isn't exactly the best way to go about doing it

But a map Editor would be very nice. And if it's to expensive to implement...just charge money to use it like team trainings.

In the time it would take WG to develop they could have made 100s of reskins.

Unfortunately, this is the reality. OP, your idea is a GREAT one. And as such, we will NEVER see it happen. As this above points out, WGCB only focus at this point is shoving out as many reskins as possible before the game collapses.

Hello,

The possibility to implement a map creator is not likely.  It would require a lot of changes to the UI which is no possible.

on a related note, while I would LOVE to see what sort of maps the community could make, but from what I know about map design is that map balance is VERY difficult to do unless you have been designing maps for years. looking back at halo with their forge system and community maps. most of the community-made maps often were HORRIBLY one-sided or just unbalanced overall. so while I'd love to see more maps, community ones will more than likely follow the same route.

I played Far Cry 2 a lot back in 2009-2010, it had map editor and some of the maps that people had created with map editor were really good. Same thing with Trials-series.

What if it wasn't in game, you'd have to download it, also having the ability to test the map with 3 others before we sent to you guys.

There’s probably 360 reasons we can’t.

Ah the infamous UI meme. Glad to see that's still in rotation.

MOEs so I can pretend like they matter

I'd create a map that was all corridors with high buildings or walls and make it Arty only.

Force arty to play shotgun all the time ... that would be fun lol

Same here. That and halos forge was something I used to spend hours in.

If it was maybe a separate application maybe that could work. But as far as what raibot said. I don't think it's likely. I think I can tell by the hasty response that they aren't interested in designing such an application. which is really unfortunate

Because alot of games now a days have the ability to place down assets in pre determined locations such as settlements or territories

I guess the reason why wg wouldnt do it is because the ammount of effort needed to make it wouldn't be offset by the few people using it

Hell if they made it good enough they could use it too. Instead of the way they do it now.

Little big planet had a build system that the devs used to make all the game worlds the same system the players can use.

I kind of agree. That's why only the best maps would make it through. If a map is severely one sided. It won't get likes.

And for once we could put down bushes in intelligent locations. Unlike the current bushes we have in game lol

They can't even make a good and balanced map by themselves let alone a creator.

Showing my age here but I used to LOVE the map creator for Command and Conquer Red Alert (before EA ruined Westwood Studios).

FYI Raib0t / WG that map editor is a perfect example of how you can make the editor a stand alone program and dont need to touch the UI.

It is a good idea - too late. They can't even fix the game they already have, and there is NO way they have the resources left to attempt such an undertaking when they can't be bother to put those same resources to actually making their game last longer. A map creator would do NOTHING to fix the problems of the game …. WAIT ONE. Thought occurs to me following that statement. You just might be right - a map creator would be exactly the kind of diversion WGCB is known to pull when things get bad.
