Tier 3 against tier 5 tanks?

Tier 4 against tier 6 tanks?

Tier 5 against tier 7 tanks?

Tier 6 against tier 8 tanks?

Tier 7 against tier 9 tanks

Tier 8 against tier 10?

Where is your sweet spot when bottom tier 75% of the time?  Is the game still fun for vets and noobs?

Yes or No?       Favorite tank for Tiers 3 thru 8 or bottom tier?

Saw a post the other day from Max that said the matchmaker knows how often you've been bottom tier and will attempt to make you top tier as a result to even things out

That said you earn a boat load more xp when you are bottom tier.  I've been playing long enough to know how things work and kind of enjoy the extra opportunity for "bonus" xp.when grinding a new line.

- I also play more conservative in that situation and go into the match fully expecting to be first back to the garage.

Still a fun game to me, bottom tier doesn't bother me.

Also the claim of being bottom tier 75% of the time simply isn't true.

I am still relatively new to this game, so yeah, it is fun, challenging at times, but fun. Only wish there were bigger, better maps, and more historic stuff, rather than the silly modes like ranked battles, and commander mode.

Not being top tier is bottom for others..either you're first or last:trollface:

ONLY if you remain in the same tank for consecutive games.

If you change tanks or tiers, it resets to that tank you just selected.

Other than long term players is anyone coming up the ranks? The challenges facing new players will drive most away. Fun that is so hard to say.

I get that's it's not for everyone, but I like commander mode. Ranked battles I'm indifferent towards.

This is not true at all, at least for me. On certain days, it seems like some tanks are cursed. Battle after battle, loss after loss, just couldn't do anything right. The very next day, everything is reversed.

My advice after having restarting an account and played on for 14 days.

Stick to a Tier, preferably V, and you will be rewarded.

How you are going to stack is largely based upon the time of the day you are playing. I have played 10's of continuous battles with almost only Tier V tanks, because there were numerous of them in the queue.

I asked about this a long time ago. They gave me a link showing that the -2 counter to keep you from being -2 all the time is only set for whatever tank that you are in, but when you change, the counter is reset.

It's about tiering, not the tank's ability to do well in a game or not. We've all had runs where nothing works no matter what tank we use, and it all seems to work fine the next day.

Was in a platoon with an old comrade who was helping a new guy down at tier III, just over Christmas, not a fun experience.

Long wait times, 7v7 matches, bottom tier, bottom tier platoon versus top  tier PzV/IV platoon...

If I was a new player and I managed to get to tier V, that's probably where I'd start to realise you can do well consistently against higher tiers

My sweet spot is tier VI and Tier VIII, there were only a couple of tier VII's I liked well enough to keep afterwards, and one of them had to have a better gun fitted before I would buy it back.

Still fun, bottom tier can be painful especially when platooning but it’s part of the game.

I still think it's fun.  I don't play anything below T6 anymore so I don't know how the low tiers are anymore.  If I do drop down to T5 I will use a PMM tank anyway.

I don't consider myself as someone who has good luck but I can say I'm NEVER bottom tier even close to 75% of the time.  I would hazard a guess and say I'm top and middle tier 75% but definitely not bottom tier.  You must be the unluckiest person to ever play WoT.

This can't be right based on my experience.  I haven't seen any information on here about this, and they didn't mention it at all in the "how MM works" article they posted a while ago. Where did you find this information?

I constantly move around tanks and tiers. I almost never play the same tank more than twice in a row.  I get the 2 times bottom tier, third time on top boost all the time.  I've made a habit out of it when there are a lot of tier Xs and I need to grind 8s.  I take my tier 5 and 6 premium tanks until I'm bottom twice in a row, then I take my tier 8 TT grind tank.  I'm top tier most of the time, or at least in the top half.  I got the idea to do this from PAINGOD himself.  He said that's how he played back when he actually posted on the forums.  When he got bottom tier twice in a row, he took a tank he wanted to play top tier.

Edit: this is what they wrote in the MM explained article:

Here's what you don't know: if the matchmaker finds a player in the upper half of their Battle Tier range (near the bottom of the team list) for two consecutive battles, in the following battle, they'll be placed into a match in the lower half of their Battle Tier (near the top of the team list) for that vehicle. This helps prevent players from having streaks of games where they are placed at the bottom of their team list.

It says "if the MM find a player" not "if the MM finds a tank".  This says to me it follows the player, not the tank.  This says if it finds a player bottom tier twice, they'll be placed in a match in the lower half of the battle tier for the vehicle they are taking the third match.

Ok, I knew PAINGOD covered this a long time ago, but with some searching on the terrible search function of the forum, I found his replay to SPP on the question of changing tanks and tiers.  Short answer is that it tracks the player, not what they are playing.  Changing servers or logging off for a long while resets it.:

(Link to SPP original question) http://forum-console.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/55215-wgwpain-re-mm-rng/page__hl__%20matchmaking__st__80#topmost

Q: Does this (the highlighted part) change and how does it change if platooned or if running up and down the tiers

A: No.It can tell the platoon is near the top or bottom of the tiers within the context of the team and tracks for each player in the platoon.  Running up and down the tiers doesn't throw it off.

Q: How long is that data held and does changing servers or dash-boarding the game re-set this data hold

A: It resets when you change servers or quit the game for long enough.  Either way doing this won't improve your MM chances as the count starts over.

Strange questions you ask SPP.
