So I used to be an avid player of WoT console for a long time dedicating weeks if not months of playtime on here. My entire American tech tree is tier 10 with a healthy progress down the British tank line. I used to spend a lot of my time with my old tank buddies on this game. Since then, they've moved on to other games. I haven't played WoT seriously for about two years now. I'm thinking about getting some XBL to give this game a go and to possibly start up on World of Warships Legends. Would anybody here like to pitch in? How's this game faring? Is the server population steady or in dangerous decline? How's the overall play experience? Have the matches gotten shorter due to an unskilled player base? Thanks to anybody who replies.

World of warships is a freaking grind. I got burnt out trying to get the new French Tier 7 Battleship giveaway. I love destroyers and torpedoing. It's like playing lights. But having 5 destroyers on each side kills the fun out of the game so its not balanced.

As For WOT, If you like playing tiers 6-7 it's kind of the sweet spot as tier 10 is wrecked. 15 v 0 still happen more often then they should, unbalanced teams are frequent. I think the DEV team from WOT migrated to WOWs legends lol. The balance over there now is terrible lool

I just got back from a longer break aswell. For me it was worth it. But in order to have fun you got to go with the meta. The tank buffing/nerfing from Wargamings side is awful. Tier 8 is unplayable, because you get pulled into bottom tier more often than not. A lot of matches are one sided, so playing slow tanks is no fun at all.

The server population is ok from what I've seen. At least on the PS4 EU server.

I'd say see by yourself. But I'd hold back on with spending money on the game.

Every game you enjoy playing is worth coming back :playing:

Population is good, overall experience different for each person, battles also each time different ;)

Balance is certainly worse than 2 years ago, new TT tanks are beaten badly with the nerf bat while new OP premiums are introduced.

I think we haven't had a good map added in 2 years either a bunch of reskins, NomNom, Icebound. Actually El Alameins not that bad.

Most matches are landslides, so it's rare to have an exciting close battle.

As for your friends not playing, it's the same for me, i have 2 people still playing out of the 30+ people that i met playing this game.

I don't play anymore, just loiter around the forum from time to time.

ArKenemyxX is right. Mid tiers are the sweet spot. Tier X is a dumpster fire of massive stupid with the added bonus that you'll see it a lot playing Tier VIIIs. Especially true late at night. My Turtle is in Tier X games A LOT.

Overall I'd treat WoT like an old girlfriend where you remember the good times as being super fun but it ended naturally with no recriminations.

Don't hook up with her again - it'll spoil those memories. That pretty girl you remember is now a homeless meth addled hoe turning premium tricks reskins on the corner to try and keep the shrinking number of punters coming back.

What they said.

It was certainly on a downward trend, overall, but 2020 has proven that it is truly in a position where even the people in charge of the game direction don’t want to be bothered with it - or the players - anymore.

I still enjoy the game for a stress breaker.  But I don't play t8 much anymore.  So I play big obnoxious TD's .  Even if my team sucks I can still ruin someone's game.  That or mediums at t10 so you have the best chance to get the most out of each game.  Slow tanks are not my thing.

Oh and find some folks to play with.  If you are feeling lazy and don't want to carry each game fooling around with friends helps.

Commander Mode, frankentanks, failed Mech Warriors, lag, bugs, no new maps, no communication, no new tech tree lines, never ending nerfs, Waffles and Deathstars buffs, overpowered arty, etc... what isn't there to like? Of course it's worth coming back! :D

So, welcome back!

Nah, but for real it's still a solid game. Sure it has its problems and quirks, but if you love WOT, it is definitely worth playing.

If you are expecting decent MM, proper balance, new maps and any new content, then no, it's not worth it.

If you expectations are money grab re-skins, grindy ops with nerfed rewards and pay2win premiums / power creeped tech trees, then jump back in.
