I'd share a pic but it's been awhile since I did that and I don't remember how people do it nowadays ... (imgur?)

Lucky for you 4(2 Lights, 2 Artillery) of the 7 tanks had low HP totals, made the High call a lot easier to get.

There has been some debate recently about what it takes to be considered a "carry" in artillery.  If it's ok with OP, I'd like to examine this example in that context.

In other classes, it's pretty easy to define a carry.  High caliber medal is generally a decent indication that you outperformed your teammates, and winning under that condition is a basic carry.  We all seem to agree on winning being a requirement for "carry" consideration.

But in artillery, you are almost always relying on spotting from teammates.  Unless you have a crazy shotgunning streak, it takes a considerably higher amount of damage and kills to earn the same xp.  You might think xp is arbitrary, but it is awarded for literally every action you'll perform when actually carrying, so it's the best metric we have.

Enough of my theorycrafting, what do you guys think?

Is this a carry?  CAN arty carry?

I say no to the first (gg though) and a resounding YES to the second.

I thought a tank/td carry was doing more damage than the next three highest damage dealers on your team?

I expected 2 very equaly matched teams, judging by the title...

But 7 vs 7 is the more logical explanation lol

GG to ya though OP.

I had a tier 2 carry in arty a few years ago.  I had to spot because my useless team wouldn't.  I killed all the reds with direct fire.

yeah, that's the game. I uploaded it to onedrive and radiantpup found it.

remind me to hide my pRon drive from radiantpup too ...

I just posted it because it was:

- different, 7vs7 games historically aren't that common unless during very low pop times. This was after midnight on NA server and pop was starting to get pretty low I guess.

- anyone also notice that there were 2 arty per side? 2 arty out of 7 players.

- 4 kills in less than 2k direct damage is pretty low for the underpowered 53/55 but I was happy because I went 1vs2 against their low health t-10 and then went to shotgun their 51 who was trying to cap.

- it's a fairly big map for 7vs7

I would say a carry is multiple kills and getting a gores medal.  Or ten times your hp.

Or anytime you hold a flank by yourself and survive.  Or if you get multiple epic medals in a match.  For instance a high caliber scout and top gun in a light tank. That kind of thing.

How about a sniper in a Grille (tier V arty) on Lakeville during a 15-15 match. Last man standing against their last 2 tanks. Got rushed...Lost that one.  I have seen Fast firing arty (Sexton) used as direct fire support and it is surprisingly effective.

Being top 3 in Artillery is a carry.

Two of my better games in an arty.

AMX 13 F3 AM (Top Gun, Gore's Medal, High Caliber, M mastery badge)

Sexton I (10 kills, High Caliber, M mastery badge)

I can see why you think so.  Personally, I think you've set the bar too high....for a limbo contest.
