The Equalizer is the newest Tier VIII USA SPG premium tank, and also the first Premium vehicle with two package options which provide different gun choices for different play styles!

Barrage Gun VS M53A1 package

The Equalizer's default gun is the Barrage gun with "Barrage Fire", and will fire 4 rounds at once with a single pull of the trigger. Each round does a lower amount of damage but with a greater potential to penetrate the enemy vehicle. Since it fires 4 rounds, your overall potential damage is greater than the single-fire gun, however, your damage is spread out over multiple rounds.   The barrage fire system was designed to help address the common feedback received from our players in regards to SPG's as both the user and the receiver, while still being effective on the battlefield.

Tankers can use the barrage gun's potential when the enemy team is gathered close or when confined in small spaces.  

Another method the Barrage gun can also be used as a form of defense when enemy tanks are close, by pulling the trigger while continuing to drag the aim in the direction of a moving tank. This will drop a line of rounds along the path of the vehicle, increasing the chance of a round hitting them.

If your base is being captured, pull the trigger and draw a quick circle inside the base with your aim. This will drop your rounds in 4 different areas of the base, increasing the chance of resetting the capture. Remember, the Equalizer is a turreted SPG with a large firing arc allowing a wide area of coverage without having to rotate your hull.

The advantages of being a Barrage Fire Equalizer:

  • Reduces the chance of missing the target completely due to firing multiple rounds
  • Damage should be more consistent from battle to battle for damage/execution uniformity
  • Barrage Fire will assist Equalizers to see an increase in Tracking Assist damage which will help earn more XP
  • It allows you to target and damage groups of enemies to provide support to your front line.

 

Battle notes for the enemy:

  • Barrage fire reduces the chances of being one-shot killed as single penetrating rounds damage are about equal to being shot by a normal tank
  • It is possible for a single barrage to destroy an enemy if multiple rounds hit them but will mainly only happen to lower-tier or thinly-armored vehicles that are sitting still
  • Tanks that are stationary are more likely to get hit by multiple rounds from the barrage and take more damage than someone who is moving.  KEEP MOVING!
  • The lower alpha of each round means your tank's armor is more effective against non-penetrating rounds allowing heavies to be less affected by SPG's

 

The M53A1 Package

The M53A1 package works like a standard artillery package offering 1, but devastating shot.

The M53A1 package has higher power than the Barrage Gun package.  

 

FAQ's

  • You cannot switch between packages while in game.  You need to pick one, or the other
  • The Equalizer comes with both the Barrage Gun and the M53A1 packages
  • Whenever the Barrage gun fires, the gun will use 4 rounds
  • The Barrage gun reloads all 4 rounds at once
  • The Barrage gun fires all 4 rounds with a single pull of the trigger
  • The Equalizer and the Barrage Gun are new to the game which means there are no current plans to implement the barrage gun in other premium/non-premium artillery tanks.  However, we welcome your feedback in this forum post, and let us know your thoughts about the tank and the barrage fire feature!

I didn’t realize today is April 1st.

Whoever seriously thought a premium, more or less autoloading skill cannon, that somehow is down a tier so it can terrorize tier 6 tanks too, needs to be fired today. Literally right now

WG just added another reason I wish the downvote was still available on this forum.  Doubt there is anything remotely historic about this autoloading M53.

Do you (WG) really have to make everything in this game an autoloader?

you annoy the italian line to death because of the balancing and at the same time sell an absolute op arty. you are really far away from the player base. Sad.

I’ve done that many, many times over the years, for many different tanks.

The IS-3A doesn’t have the mechanic it should because that would be just too powerful for tier 8, but the equalizer is perfectly balanced, as are the italians and the polish. Lol sometimes you just have to laugh

Yes I do, although I’m not sure if I can post it here because the names aren’t removed.

 

In a tier 9 battle, it led the entire lobby in damage, came in 2nd place in kills with 3, and beat out an actual tier 9 skill cannon on my team in damage.

 

Oh, and that was with 9 shots fired, 6 direct hits. I wish my arties were that accurate! This was within 30 minutes of it being put into the game lol

Thank's for a Tier 8 premium Arty...The 1% uni / fanboy's on this website complain like 3 year old little girls...Going to pick this up and trash the fanboy auto loading tanks..:arta:

It's ok. I've found on xboxdvr.com. It did well for a new tank. Most damage in the game by 500 points.

This mechanic is by far the worst thing you've ever added to the game. You should have floated this idea with the playerbase first, got the inevitable reaction, and shelved it.

Sorry but no one is Attacking you for one and two maybe If you would listen to us more often On how people do not like artillery Maybe if you gave us a way to defend ourselves from it AKA smoke launchers Which 95% of the tanks in game a have smoke launchers on them That or I would highly recommend you re evaluate artillery in game buy Nothing its Damage potential buy 75% but all so Giving it better gun handling Because nobody likes being hit 5s in to the match and then have there Health Taken away from them and then being useless to there team u say it Prevents camping it dos not It promotes camping because nobody wants to go out there and get targeted and hit for all there Health
