It's appreciated and agree it's not going to wipe out the battlefield. It players more of a support role and will rely more on assist damage than dealing physical damage. It's certainly not dropping 4 bombs of 1250 damage each, only hitting for about Medium tanks worth of damage. :honoring:

Been waiting years to see a good premium tier 8 arty other than the british. Kudos to WG for the add. Look forward to both dropping shells on the heads of the haters as well as racking up more arty kills in my light tanks. A win all around.

For everyone already predictably crying about this tank, you do realize it isn't pumping out 4 full power 155 shells right? I have run it several times now and the damage on a direct hit from one shell of the barrage is about ~100 and on a splash, half that. Additionally, the entire barrage doesn't land on target, as the aim ring blooms a bit between shots. It isn't some overpowered orbital death laser lobbing 400 dmg shells 4 times in a row. It is almost totally ineffective against heavies of tier 9 and 10 sofar as it cannot pen them, only splash. Just another example of this player base forming opinions without any actual information. Big shock.

Let's look at the big picture here.  Depending on how the dispersion actually plays in game.  I'm assuming no rammer because of the mechanic?  So with premium food  vents and brothers in arms you are gonna be around a 21 second reload.  Assuming 2 of 4 shots hits your target and both splash only.  You are looking at about 80 to 120 a shot.  So let's low ball and say 160 every 21 seconds.  Sounds ok at first right?  But then consider the module and crew broken and deaths.  Whoever has one of these on their team has a huge advantage.  What were you thinking?

I think a lot of people wanting a Premium Arty have wanted a new tank. Y'know this insane thing that Premiums used to be in the past before reskins became the meta.

Disagree on the mechanic being 'Interesting', it seems too Min/Max to me either you yeet a shot into a group and have done stupid damage, fire it into a cap or it's pointless. Feasibly it already exists in a sense with the Tier IX-X French Arty which now, don't really have a point to exist.

 

If it had to come into effect, why was it done on an M53/M55 one of the most notorious Arty in the game, then lowered a tier, then also given a separate package. The Package idea is also an interesting concept but why wasn't this done on a few existing tanks that it has been suggested on instead of a new one first, let alone an Arty like this one, why not just go all-out on the new Mechanic?

Given that it has done so, what point does the M40/M43 now have outside of to grind it to the actual M53 at IX. Given that it is now more mobile than it and feasibly more accurate on account of the turret.

 

 

Now I particularly don't like the idea of the gun with it's concept of being used to reset a cap, it can already be a relatively daring thing to do, slow tank, low health or so and you understandably cannot chase this tank down if you even were to have seen it before then. But by getting in the cap you can still win the match either by forcing them to come back to try to spot you or risk the shot and fire in the chance of hitting/splashing.

This tank, mitigates that risk quite heavily because instead of firing once, turning out to be a miss and now having to hope they reload in time to fire again and this time hit. Equalizer doesn't get that it'll get 4 Chances to hit that it can easily spread around the cap, and what a 24s base reload speed so even more chances. If my maths is correct and we based it on the idea it is already able to aim into its own cap then you're looking at what, 20 shots it can fire into the cap, which is a tad more than 3-4 of others.

 

I do not think it will happen that often however I do think that bluntly games will be lost in circumstances like that with a bit more variety to them purely on the basis of the enemy Arty shooting into the cap is an Equalizer, not an M40/M43.

when in barrage mode is does not hit for real 155 damage at all, i have run it 10+ times already and the barrage shells hit for about 100, 50 on a splash. direct hits to heavies tend to do nothing. yes, the bloom increases during the barrage, a decent amt of dispersion. it is not OP , don't believe the hype. it's another fun tool for platoon play imo.

The barrage gun's module damage was reduced to account for the multiple rounds being fired. It takes multiple barrage shells to have the same module damage of a single normal hit.  We accounted for the various mechanics of the game in its design. :honoring:

also to be clear, it is not a mode, you change the gun type in the garage. either one shot or barrage gun.

The 4 shot clip needs sorting. I would prefer the set up of the tier 10 french arty but with the barrage as an option. Shoot 1 round if you want to, leaving 3 still ready to fire, but if you hold the trigger, all 4 are let loose. Barrage is ok, fun againt a group of tanks. Also, the rounds spread out so you tend to track easier and hit unspotted tanks next to your target. Only had a couple of games but best game so far was with the bigger none barrage gun. Having the 1 shot, barrage option combined would make it very affective

So Italian tanks with their much smaller guns were far too deadly and needed their reload speeds reduced but then this thing happens that can fire four shots every 25 seconds at most? That reload speed is less time than it takes the tier X Italian to load 4 shots in the first place.

It's been my experience that most modules break after about 500 damage or so.  A bit more depending on higher tier and kind of munition obviously.  Did you reduce the damage that the barage mode gun does to components?

It has been a while since we released an SPG tank.  While we hear our tankers address their concerns of the introduction of a new SPG tank, in the end, Artillery is part of the game’s ecosystem and therefore, will certainly get tanks added to their class.  We will not exclude them.  The Barrage gun is weak.  Yes, it looks intimidating, but that doesn’t mean it delivers the same amount of kick as the M53A1 package.

I'm not a lover of artillery, but this tank looks fun. One of the roles of artillery is to disturb the opponent and I think that one will do the job very well. I can't wait to see it in action.

Another thing for which I congratulate WG is to finally put a choice of pack on a premium tank, it is something that we miss.

So why have none of the forum suggested legitimate arty lines been added?

What about when 3 of them platoon up, use BIA, Food, Vents and focus fire on choke points/cap circles and stagger their Barrage by 7 seconds each?

I like the idea. Seems fun and balanced. Too steep to buy right off. Let's hope they begin offering package options on additional premiums soon.
