With Jeff mentioning cross play in the video they will have no choice but to drop it if they ever want a chance. Sony will not let that happen with the 360 around. Seriously at this point it’s a joke. I wish I could see some anonymous data of dollars spent between consoles. At this point there can’t be enough revenue generated to justify keeping it onboard.

Console uses a different client engine and renderer which is not compatible with CORE. However, our game is already in 4k. :honoring:

Any chance you guys can upgrade the water effects to something similar to PC? Their water effects look so much better than ours.

Yup.

Until push comes to shove, these people will remain on 360 forever.

tanks only runs at 30fps on any xbox console,  I don't think many will argue that the rusty anchor holds back development.

Xbox One can run 60 fps on most games, 360 runs 30. Tell me which is holding the other back.

Exactly.

They need to keep parity.

While this is correct, I think he is arguing the point tanks *could* run in 60fps on modern systems if it wasn't for the Xbox 360.

Did any of you consider the possibility of cross-play between all three systems? A cross-play in time, spanning across 15 years. Xbox 360, Xbox One and PS4. I bet you that's what they're doing and why it hasn't been implemented yet.

WG, if I'm right, could you throw in support for ColecoVision into the mix? I'd love to play me some WOT on it. Thanks. :)

is the original xbox 1 capable of 60fps?   I really wouldn't call it a modern system,  but I suppose it's still classed as current gen.

^^this

There's a reason why they had to cut Skorpion pass also on  PS4 when it was too big for another console.

It certainly does. lol

But I guess it's easier to always keep the parity from the beginning instead of having to reverse from what's previously been done when the time comes.

XB1 and PS4 struggle to maintain 30 fps at times during graphics-heavy parts of the game. While they can do 60 fps, they can't maintain it with any type of consistency.

So the BF1 multi can running 45-60 fps on PS4...but WOT cant..interesting  (i think it might be because of the more complex graphics) :harp:

I'm ok with going back to launch graphics if it means new content such as maps and clan events.

They can’t even get their servers out of the shack in Vermont and upgrade them past being on 9 year old linksys routers and you think they’re even remotely capable of raytracing and optimization? Best they can do is reskin a tank and call it the ray tracer. New lunar mode confirmed, 12000 gold to play and lasts one weekend

Wow. So, you did some testing and you're telling us that your engine (WG owned), appropriately named "Despair," isn't capable of running and sustaining 60 fps on modern systems...?

All the talk about frame rates between the consoles. Wasn't the frame rate for this game purposefully dialed back or capped on the current gen systems so we didn't have the unfair advantage of running more powerful machines?

Also, if this game is 4K I need to go see an eye doctor immediately.

Well that answers my question I guess.  My TV is 4K, my xbox can run it, but the game can't?  So, with all the promises in the 18 minute video by Jeff may just be nothing more than a "string them along" attempt?  So now you know WG why we don't believe much of what you say.  I don't even want to know how far you are from being able to support 8k.  You do know it's coming, don't you?
I'm just saying.....

For a game engine that's optimised around 1080p (1920x1080 pixels) @ 30fps, going up to 4k (3840 x 2160) uses four times the amount of pixels and, in very simple terms require 4 times the processing. On a static console, it's not a matter of flipping a switch, it would require major engineering and reworking over years and literally cost millions. And although with PS4 Pro and Xbox one X are faster, they're not 4x faster. WG's approach is sensible for business, but I agree it's frustrating for the players.

I don't know much about Depair, but what I would expect it's core would likely run on all consoles (360 included) and have a discrete export pipeline for assets and shaders for each console, probably sourced from the same assets. For example, the collision models would have to be idenitical across all, but the render models and vfx would have different implementations. Economically It make sense to do it this way, otherwise you'd have to maintain three different versions of the engines and asset pipelines which is a huge cost and investment. The reality is that you end up focusing on what each console does worst, and making sure your pipeline caters for the lowest common denominator. One console is relatively poor at drawcalls, one is poor at vertex thoughput, one is costly in terms of texture memory so the whole pipeline is focused on optimisting these properties rather than taking advantage of what a certain console does well, all the while trying to maintain consistency across all platforms. It's a proper challenge and a balance of cost.

However, if you wanted the same engine to run at 60fps or faster, you could half the resolution (960 x 540) and you would be able to draw the same frame 4 times as quickly, and get 120fps!!
