Tiger E were assault/breakthru tanks, ie, Zitadelle it was the 3 SS Tiger Coy, that broke the Soviet defensive lines on the Southren face, they led the push, well the III's and IV's were on their flanks. They also led the local counter attacks etc, in 44,and yes they were dolled out in penny packets despite Abt commanders, and Guderians objections, to shore up Inf etc. Tiger Abt's war diaries have many examples in them of wasteing Tigers doing this. They also paid a high price because of their reputation of invinceibility, as Generals the Abts were assigned to did not understand how to employ Tigers or understand they needed to be concentrated on a breakthru point at full strength to be effective. Ie, many times in local counter attacks they would use 6 to 8 Tigers with little suppt other then Infantry to try and punch through a Soviet divisional line with mass AT and artillery supt, and suffer high losses, mostly with no recon or terrain knowledge. A lot of Tiger and crew were lost this way in 1944.

It's accepted in WOT Tiger E are support tanks as anything their tier can punch their frontal armor, and they get the ahistorical KwK.43 L/71 as well which gives them a punch.

Agreed: but lets keep in mind that 'assault' was not anything like a WoT assault.    In Zitadelle, the Germans moved tanks in formation with as you say the Tigers in the front-most wedge. But they were not moving at full speed in a charge, like T-34 charges, they advanced carefully, shot from distance, then moved forward again.  They  of course were not doing ambushing as attackers. The Russians did this to them. And as you point out, to the cost of the German inflated faith in armor protection.    In Fance the Germans were forced to use tanks in ambush roles, as they were on the defense. (Cannot remember if Tiger's were used in the bocage, specifically, or not.)

Of course, it was not my intent to imply Tiger's just plowed along 8p. German SOP was stop, fire, move as you said. Yes ETO was German defence primarily, with limited offensives ie, Normany, Lorraine, Ardennes. No meeting engagements like on the Eastren Front. Ie, in Normandy Germans only had 1.8 to one tank loss ratio despite fightng defensily most Allied losses were to mines, AT guns, MPAT, etc. Yes their were small numbers of Tiger E and B, deployed by Waffen SS and HEER. Ie, Wittmans run thu Villers Bocage vs British 7th AD.

It's beyond me why you haven't started up a youtube channel yet. Why keep your success for just the forum when you can share it with the world? The forum is not a worthy place to post your games. Expand your horizons out there.

Guide for 3 marking Tiger variants.

Step 1 - follow well armoured, friendly heavies and stay just behind them so you're not the priority target. Or follow some competent lights. If you follow the lights, make sure you have semi competent Tds behind you. ARTY WILL HELP YOU IF YOU STAY SOMEWHAT IN FRONT OF THEM.

Step 2 - find hard cover, rocks or a building. Proceed to poke out and pick off any reds that over step. Your DPM and accuracy will amaze you and the opfor as you demolish any thing that comes your way.

Step 3 - after your teammates are dead and you feel all is lost, yolo! And surprise even yourself as you witness your heavy/medium do death circles with its speed. Continue on to finish off arty.
