Well as the majority are kind of "under house arrest" at the moment, I thought it might be of interest to other forum members some of the more obscure tank facts/info we find, having t'internet to trawl thru to keep us sane.

So kicking off the I would like to share this YouTube video on the Irainian (Persia) tanks -

https://www.youtube....h?v=Upw4a5LnrbU

Quite frankly I was under aware that we, the British Empire at that time and the Soviets had jointly invaded Iran (Persia). Nor that the Iranian forces even had any tanks/armoured cars. Certainly did not know they had the Czech Skoda LT vz. 38. Admittedly it was a unique variant of that model. Also looks as if one has survived to recent times.

Anyway I look forward to seeing other interesting tank stuff fellow forum members might have stumbled across. I would suggest we keep it to bite sized morsels. You know something that can be watched whilst you're calming down after the latest session of WoTs.

As a aside, looking at some of the original footage it is interesting how liberal Iran/Persia was back in those days.

This is interesting.

We should have camel dungs on desert maps and when you drive over it, it would randomly give you better RNG or explode your tank.:teethhappy:

Read that people committed suicide after being arrested by the gestapo by shooting themselves in the head six times.

Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm

Reminds me of an incident in the Italian Campaign, the Americans built a dummy airfield complete with fake buildings and wooden aircraft.

The Germans mounted an air raid on the field and dropped... wooden bombs!

The nickname for the Panzer IV given by crews towards the end was the "mess tin"

I just found that out.

The nickname Soviet crews gave the M3 was “coffin for seven brothers.”

I don’t know how to act my age! I’ve never been this old before!
