So I have an extra German crew looking for a new home. I finished grinding the VK. 100.01 P and I do not want to continue up to der Maus. I'm considering going for the Pz. Kpfw. VII, but am hesitant for 2 reasons - a) I never see them on the battlefield, perhaps for good reason and 2) I've heard the VK.45s are turds

Not really sure how it plays or if it's any good, any insight or advice would be appreciated

vk b is good just not as good as it’s overpowered cousin the e75 but still good. The panzer 7 is good in my opinion but you have to mitigate its weakspots as best as you can. Personally I like the 15cm version better but that’s just because it’s limits exposure to enemy fire while shooting. However the 12.8 version is still formidable.

VK4502 A is okay. I found it wasn't much in the way of a heavy unless top tier (and every other heavy in the game at tier 7 has your number) but was very serviceable heavium.

The rear turret mounted 4502 B in contrast should have been a very serviceable heavy was let down by its frontal armour being too weak to face up against any X's, and most 9's, and there were a few 8's that were fundamentally better at doing your job (Chrysler K and IS-M spring to mind). Every now and then I'd do awesome, but more often than not enemies would just spam me with prammo and / or melt me with artillery. On PC it got a buff and I haven't played it on console for over two years, so it may have improved.

Suffice to say I didn't complete the grind as I opted to go to the German medium and TD lines instead.

The VK A is more of a Medium, it's a HT with weak armour. The VK B is a solid Heavy with a rear-mounted turret you have to get used to. Play that and if you like the playstyle you'll know wether to you want to get the tier ten or not.

^He pretty much perfectly summarized my opinion on the tank, and I agree with him that, while both are good heavy tanks, the VK 72 is generally better because of its 15cm gun.

This. Pz VII maeby underrated tank but it's pretty good tank imo if you like superheavies. Armor works and 560 alpha is good :)

No, the Pz 7 is not worth it. Too many weak spots to sidescrape effectively. You basically have to be head on to people, and then they just premium through your lower plate or gun mantlet. Gun depression isn't that good, and it's not fast. It's basically Meh all around and I only bought it because I'm a German completionist

I prefer the smaller gun honestly. The 15cm is too unreliable even fully aimed.

They completely eviscerated the 45B for no good reason back when they added the second German heavy line. It was equal with the E75, but now it's bad.

The hull armor on the 45B used to be one of the best around. You had to hit the turret or fender well weak spots to damage it head on.  I personally think they nerfed it because it would have been better than the rear turret Russians coming out. Can't have that.

a lot of tier 9 and 10 standard rounds go through the  lower plate aswell if you do not angle. so you are kinda rekt any way you try to play it.

I'm not sure about it being a result of the rear turret Russians but it was super weird that it was ever nerfed to me. I mean I loved tanking silly tier X TD's trying to hurt my lfp as I sauntered toward them but that was really its main gimmick and now its just a slow bad E75

What good is a rear-mounted turret when sidescraping exposes your weakspots?
