I mostly played lights the last few days especially the british lights.

since they are bad and you have to rely even more on your team i was shocked how bad most players are. They just dont shot anything what is more than 100 meter away, maybe make a video that you can aim manually . Sometimes i would like to make a restriction for playing tier 9 and 10. at least 2 k battles and wn8 above 1xxx points

You do realize that if you start placing skill limits in the game you would have few if any players remaining. This is a public free to play game, like roadways. Just because you have a driver license doesn’t mean your a good driver.

I find a lot of players are poor at hitting anything, nevermind a light, just as much as they are terrible at doing anything but active spotting or just grinding the face of their tank into their enemy.

It's interesting to run into someone that actually knows what they are doing because it suddenly shows how dangerous each duel can be. I got absolutely ripped to shreds earlier in my Citadel by an Absolution. Between him sidescraping and his high rof gun that autopenned my 100mm of frontal armour there was little I could do - but his sidescraping stopped me from doing even 2/3rds the damage I needed to, and he rolled on for the rest of the match to carry and win the game with the same hitpoints thereafter.

There are so few good players, I often blunder into them assuming they are going to be useless.

But in that case there is a minimum competency that you must pass. I would say not being able to aim is like not being able to pass the DL test

With my lag auto aim makes me miss every shot! So no auto aim for me.

I wish there was a hardcore mode that turned it off completely.  Would be nice to play with like minded people that want to aim for themselves.

While i agree auto aim is over used, banning it in any mode puts fast tanks at a disadvantage. It is a lot harder to aim at 65 kph while bobbing and weaving than sitting still hull-down. Most can't use auto aim correctly, like waiting for a flat surface or getting on a red's 6 o'clock. Decent players can render auto aim useless, move your tank. Of course a lot of players use their tank like a pill box.

Gotta bear in mind also that the majority of the player base dont go to forums or anything outside of the game, so how do they learn anything beyond auto aiming?

Better guidance for newbies in game would do more for overall team skill than gatelocking or removing auto locking would IMO

I use auto aim to quickly lock  on target, then adjust for weak spots.

It seems that many players have trouble shooting anything, regardless if they use autoaim or not, remember you have to get in to position, be close enough to hit the enemies, and sometimes aim for particular spots, while you are dooing this there is a chance that the enemies might shoot you back, this requires thinking, and thinking is hard, and aiming is difficult, that is why you sometime see camping heavies with camonet and binoculars that have fired 10 shots, hit 2 and maybe penned 1, and one day they will be at tier 10 and on your team.

It is after all.

You need to use it for circle killing enemies in a light, I’ll also use it if an enemy is running away and about to round a corner or I’m coming around a corner and I know a tank is sideway to me, it has its uses, also great for snap shots (firing as soon as you lock an enemy to get that bot accuracy)

Well said +1

I don’t use auto aim myself except on lights and really conditional. Even then you need some experience. Almost all players lack any basic knowledge, forget advanced, it’s that bad really.

I guess casual players just play with auto lock lol, I did not know auto lock existed during my first 300 games imagine doing death circle with manual aiming lol

A lot of players do, you can tell when you see whole groups of them failing to hit a moving tank at close range.

It probably also doesn’t help that the game defaults to Aim Assist On, which many players don’t even realize is a thing. This makes it harder to shoot at weakspots or tanks partially concealed by terrain.

My tanking stats improved since i used it more - this is not a stat descussion.

I generally score more and i am exposed far less. I dont use 1st person i find it "wrong"

I use it for medium range shots with snappy guns and absolutely to keep the gun on target or just to "feel a targetout" / try find a gap
