I see no reason to change a major core mechanic of the game after this long. Yes the current spotting mechanic can be a bit meh at times, however most people that hate it havent probably took the time to read up or check how said mechanic works. Adding an extra even 100 metres of extra render is gonna throw any strategical movements out the window, any crossing of a open field if now going to be even more of a killing ground. I see no reason to add the rendering of vehicles outside of spotting range, this is something you do as a one of or for a special mode, not the every day pub games as this will re enforce far harder camping than what we already see. People won't want  to play aggressive or push certain areas because those areas will become pointless to push.

-Is easy to get mad when big changes happen. But changes can bring a lot of new players, more than you think.

-A little story as exemple: Before world of tanks my favorite game was destiny, bungie have done big changes to the game, so I not like the game now.

-But guess what happen ? There now more players in the game than before.

-Yes the old community left, but a new bigger community have rise.

True Vision concept needs at least a few things to be implemented and have a decent test.

Tank and Map balance is already built around the current system.

  • Map design that fits True Vision
  • indicator that someone using TPP has your tank in LOS, but only within the normal view range.
  • camera becomes a detection spot for the spotting mechanics if the target is unspotted.
    • i.e. use the camera to peak around corner of a spotted tank works as normal
      • using the same method gets you detected if the camera has LOS of a enemy view port that would detect a tank in the location of the camera

tl;dr maps would need to change, spotting mechanics should change to incorporate the camera has a part of the tank within certain circumstances

Some people claim Ensk should be tier restricted.   I don't believe their lies.

Imagine if this forum had only players who actually win more than lose trying to tell others how to play. Would be the best forum ever. Instead, we have a bunch of bad advice from players who lose more often than not trying to tell their betters how to play their tanks.

I thought about these changes, and I don’t like. Sorry, WG, but I am not going to play this weekend. I’d rather play WarThunder.

The fact that they're even considering this is an abomination.

Invisible tanks is THE core gameplay element of the entire World of Tanks game. It the sole strategic gameplay feature which makes it unique to all other games. Its where all the strategy and gameplay depend on. Its a free to play game but with very very hardcore elements (the main being the invisible tanks element). This hardcore slant is why people have played thousands of matches and years worth of gametime.

Changing the vision mechanics would change the entire game - dumb it down for the worst. Its not a game about working the ingame 3rd person camera to see who is over that cliff or wall. WoT all relies on the vision mechanics.

The fact that we as players even have to argue this is insanity.

They updated the original post with the technical details written by MaxChaos24 that covers how it’s supposed to work. What questions?

I think the true vision mode would have 2 modes:

1. when the target is not spotted, it will be like the Kraft's Panther tank in the Halloween mode. You can see that there is a tank 100 m away from you, but you don't know if it's alive unless it moves or it is spotted.

2. the second when you have spotted the enemy, then it will be as is now.

If they put some extra dummy tanks around the fields, or the tank is still in bushes, it will be hard to spot someone. So, don't worry TDs.

On the other hand, active light tanks will suffer as it is easy to spot a moving target, more than that if it's on an open field. Passive lights will be ok as soon as they have tank camo paint and they have a bush big enough to hide them.

This is ridiculous,  so now I can see a light tank that is normaly outside my view range because he can see me? so a light tank spotter or a TD that has max skills and view range can now be spotted by a tank that has less range and skills because I spotted him and can shoot him? I can now see light tanks and TD getting swarmed because of this change, spotters will be worthless.  Whats the use of view ranges if I can see them, regardless if I can shoot them or not.

So this effectively renders light tanks obsolete?

Seems all the camp bought was a waste! It makes the game for stupid players that didn’t have to think of positioning and using camp as an advantage.

So if I am in my light tank, say my Vanguard and my spotting view range is 480, and there is an enemy, say SPG(arty) with only 450 spotting view  range.   When I spot him, he will spot me too?  Even though I have greater spotting view range then the SPG...

If this is the case, then your spotting view range becomes useless.  I am not sure about this test.  Going to have to test it out in a training room with my friend.

The post is poorly phrased. Every tank will always be rendered if you look in their direction but won't have an outline and you can't see through bushes. You will be able to see arty and he will be able to see you if there is line of sight between you. That being said, neither tank will light up and show that they are spotted, you have to actually look for the tanks that you are going to shoot. Under 445m, spotting will work as it normally does with view range and camo and tanks getting outlines

I don't even know what to think. Any hull down heavy with decent accuracy is going to dominate this beyond belief.

Sandriver is going to be unplayable.

I dont understand how this was even a thought at the dev table. This is one of the key components that makes world of tanks, world of tanks. If I preferred this type of game mechanic, I'd go play war thunder. World of tanks is amazing, because of the mechanics like this. Make this permanent and myself and many others will leave this game.
