What about artillery? Will they be able to see all tanks in the bird’s eye view?

This is clearly a failed test before it started. “The vehicle detection system,” Whatever they would like to call it, is a core mechanic. You can’t just render all tanks in without making huge changes! There is also not enough or proper cover and concealment options in this game, And the maps created are way too small!

I have to ask, did someone have a stroke in development? There are reasons why you have some maps tier locked, the biggest reason was people do not like getting shot within the first seconds of a game.

Feel sorry for anyone who tries going town in lakeview. I did not, but a lot of people complained about Ensk having tiers 9 and 10, well now the their nightmare will be at all tiers during the test.

This games competition, War Thunder, is able to render in all tanks, because that is one of their core mechanics that they built the game around. The maps are a good size and there is enough cover and concealment. Where map design fails a player, they offer smoke to the player.

Do you see the issue?

I see a lot of frustration coming amongst players which never read news.

I suspect there are alot of places where the brinksmanship of camo and detection system are used to good effect, such as the lake road on Lakeville, will now be very hard to exploit effectively.

Passive scouting sounds like a very hard task now.

Having said that i'll see how it all pans out.  I'm certainly curious to try it.

Be nice if they turned stat tracking off for the duration :D

So if you're damaged by a player that spots you the new, manual way, you're lit up for roughly 2 seconds to the enemy team?

If you're crossing a field in a Tortoise or Maus you'd get obliterated.... doesn't really sound like it's going to work.

You make good points but maybe just maybe WG are looking at increasing foliage, amending maps etc and this is part of the puzzle.
I am intrigued by this change not because of what they are introducing but because they are actually looking to make real developments to the game. Right or wrong this is a sea change from reskinned tanks. Before we crap all over this why don’t we see what it’s all about?

If you also think about it from the introduction of wheeled vehicles and zoom and boom light tanks this is a massive nerf to them. They won’t be able to hit and run by manipulating the vision system. Additionally I see this as potentially slowing the game down and making play much more strategic something that the player base has been asking for.

I'm going to keep an open mind, however, I think the current spotting/detection system works just fine.

basically it was enough to rename "world of tanks" to "War thunder" ... it was much simpler and more immediate ... LoL

I play wot for its arcade side and not realistic, if the system becomes permanent, it will be the end of the game for me.

there will be a lot of confusion when a tank in your spotting range (red outline, etc. etc.) moves / passes in front of a visible one but out of your view range ... in my opinion this "hybrid" system will be a great confusion, as you play and you need to aim more precisely, now ... question two: does the shells' scattering continue to increase with distance?, if is yes, is practically useless to shoot tanks outside your spotting range (beyond 400/450 meters), it will be almost impossible to hit them....

Will I get reimbursed for Premium Time during this live test?

Couldn't this test wait until SummerSlam Season 1 ends?

What about Merc Contracts?  Will Merc Contracts get extended?

Edited by Warthog II-x, 15 September 2020 - 01:48 PM.

Some people claim Ensk should be tier restricted.   I don't believe their lies.

Imagine if this forum had only players who actually win more than lose trying to tell others how to play. Would be the best forum ever. Instead, we have a bunch of bad advice from players who lose more often than not trying to tell their betters how to play their tanks.

As they continue to roll out the updated maps this test can definitely lead to more bushes and such being added, and can overall affect map development and what tankers view as a map priority! Tons to look forward to!

I read the news (https://console.worl...ue-vision-test/) but it actually does not tell anything besides "the tanks will be displayed all the time".

The real details are in http://forum-console...0#entry5059500  which is NOT linked from the announcement.

Very interesting and a much needed change! Hope everything goes smoothly!

My only concern is arty...... are they able to God see everyone from the start? This doesn't sound good, maybe a true vision test without arty?

Gotta catch them all! ^^
