Ah those tanks from the early days of WoT that you loved to play, but are no longer competitive and fun because the power creep has rendered them old and toothless.

  • JT8.8 - used to be that the only way to take one of these down was hit her belly.  That amazingly fast fire rate & virtually impenetrable face struck fear into everyone.  Now almost everything pens her so you know you can take her down before that gun got you.

Although it’s still very competitive I feel that way about the t 34 88. It used to be pretty op but now is competitive which in my opinion is a good thing.

IS6. My black version is my most played tank, but only gets a run out for training new crews now

Agree with the IS-6. It was my first premium ever. It was a god about 5 years ago. Now just the thought of playing it is depressing...

People would argue that the KV-5 has been powercreeped and they’d be right.... but it still manages to do absolutely ridiculous things sometimes and it’s still hilarious to play.  Just don’t pretend like it’s competitive

The T23e3 could use more power hehehe, on a more serious note. I'd say the Type 59 is a tank that I feel time has been unfair too (or Wargaming has been unfair too, depends how many variants of the tank you've noticed), I'm telling you Wargaming all it would take is a slight aim time buff and the Type 59 would be amazing. --Momentai :3

Is6 black was my go to favourite and my t34 black heavy. I still take them out but wg are what I would call (insert word). They still sell these obsolete tanks for full price and they are but a shadow of their former selves.

Premium tanks were always a tank that was not as good as the tt counterparts, but they had some xp or silver booster to offset the lesser performance.

Now the original prem tanks still suffer the performance problems but the new prem tanks have the silver or Xp boosts or both. They don’t suffer any performance drawbacks to their tt counterparts, in fact many are just out right better.

Why even play a tt tank except for tier 9 and 10 which have not been flooded with wargaming greed and ignorant choices. But just wait, some Jack (insert word) will find away to convince the masses to flood every tier with reskins of reskins of reskins and bring them to tier 9 and 10.

It’s pretty low of wg to be selling the original prems at full price knowing they are nowhere near as good as they once were. But the bar has been set really low a long time ago.

Matilda.  Too slow and more players carry premium now but when I started 6 years ago that was the only tank in which I could carry a team.

I still find the JT8.8 to be quite the cash register, have to be more careful than in the past sure, but it makes bank.

This about Churchill VII too. She was an absolute beast at release and I had the first of my few Kolobanovs in her during beta. Sadly the game has literally passed her by.

Type 59, the buff came in the form of a new tank being sold instead of buffing the damn thing. It's been around for years, and it's just not good these days.

Same with the KV-5, it's badly in need of a buff but they sell a new tank instead. If they buffed tanks and fixed things they'd indirectly make more in the process by getting the trust of tank buyers again.

The Jt8. 8s Armour has never been impenetrable lol.

It has great dpm. Provided it can pen the target and the Armour isn't as weak as people believe.

Almost all Tier 5 and Tier 6 tanks are just trash nowadays except few ones which previously were somewhat OP and now are still OK to play.

I'd go with my T34. It needs a speed and reload buff. The T34 can't keep up with the heavies and is out traded by most other tanks. When you get to the fight, it's either won or lost and your game is over with 1 shot taken. Now it collects dust, sometimes I think I should take it out. Scratch that thought.

Yes, it can still work, but it's nowhere near the beast it used to be.

As some of you have already said, the IS-6 and KV-5 could both use a little love but for me the biggest has been is the Tortoise.

I remember when nobody wanted to take on the Doom Turtle. Now someone fires a shot on Karelia and pens the Tortoise on Westfield.

Yeah the Matilda used to be absolutely awesome.

The Russian Churchill used to be amazing too, but now it's trash.
