Pretty sure it doesn't, and if it's supposed to have a delay then it's not working as intended.
Using it on my Crusader and the second I crest a hill with a red on the other side I get warned immediately.

Sixth Sense Commander The Sixth Sense Perk enables the Commander to know if the vehicle has been detected by the enemy. Three seconds after being detected by the enemy, a visual indicator in the form of a light bulb appears in the upper center screen portion of your battle interface. The indicator turns off after a few seconds whether you are still detected or not. There is no indicator to show whether or not you have become hidden again.
Primarily helpful for TDs, SPGs, and passive scouts. Many players have mentioned they'd prefer the indicator to remain on for as long as the enemy detects you, but that is not how it currently works.
Unless they changed the mechanics for it on the Xbox 360, and last report they said it functioned as the PC version it does have a 3 second delay.

Like I said, play with sixth sense then tell me there's a 3 second delay.

Then play a game and tell me if it activates after 3 seconds and turns off after 2-3 seconds like on the PC.

Yes in pc the sixth sense only turns on to indicate that you have been spotted and does not stay on untill u are no longer spotted as it does on xbox. In pc it will turn off but you may still be spotted.

Honestly, I don't care what the in-game description or any description on whatever website says, my 6th sense has been going off the very instant I get spotted (which doesn't happen on PC). Every time I peek-a-boo around a corner / over a hill and a red is there, 6th sense pops up right away lol.
Considering the bulb stays lit on 360 as well, wouldn't be surprised if they fiddled with other stuff.

So you have been here since day 1 and didnt get that detected only went off if the guy spotting you was in your field of vision? this line of thinking is the reason behind 99.9% of the "i wasnt detected but everyone was shooting me from the front" posts.

Considering the only thing behind me at any given time are my teammates, pretty sure that mythical guy behind me isn't even there. I'm always the first one out of the gate from my spawn to post up and do some scouting of my own.
Even in the latter stages of a match, I'm not dumb enough to put myself in positions where reds can just casually get behind me, always try to keep teammates / borders / solid structures at my back.
