So, regarding stats...some of us who never played pc automatcally started out as noobs when World of Tanks went free to play back in February. That means for the first few hundred (maybe a thousand) games, we were on a steep learning curve.

You might note that some people have dismal stats, but are in fact good players. It's because we have to spend twice as long earning high scores to balance out our stats.

I don't like being judged on stats alone.seems like everyone races for that page the minute you post anything in this forum, like your credibility hinges on good stats.

Anybody else on this learning curve feel the same way?

Stat credibility and bashing goes both ways up or down.  Take someone with amazing stats...ive seen countless times on here where someone will try to discredit someones acheivements by saying that they are only have good stats bc they platoon...or they stat pad.

Theres an old saying.."if someone is going to complain...they better hope that they are perfect" people will always try to exploit holes in other peoples logic or arguements to try to get the upperhand.  Stats just seem to be the fastest way for them to do that.

To pad winrate by platooning you have to be good in the first place though, no? I mean, dI Atticus Ib has like a 75% winrate only because he platoons a lot, but that doesn't mean that he's suddenly not good because his winrate is achieved through platooning. If you took 3 random players and they platooned together all of the time, they wouldn't be likely to win 75% of their games.

Exactly +1 ..the platoon arguement for win rate is a bad one imo.

I'm trying to teach Sadie (my cat) to use a controller so she can pad my stats while I sleep. So far I haven't had much luck although she is really getting into chatting on Skype lately. She sent this to my sister yesterday morning:

[4/21/2014 6:04:46 AM] Nyx (Community Manager World of Tanks Xbox): cvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvdkiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii7y6l7y67y67y67y67y67y67y67y67y=4444444r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5r5000000000000000000000000000000000000000p-hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhnhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

She then sent the same \ message 134 times. I feel certain that she should be able to master driving my new KV-5 in no time.

On the topic of stat-padding, I hate people who play way, way down tier. Troublemaker191, for example, started a thread today about how idiot tankers kept coming around a corner to get massacred by his T-18. The guy has over a thousand matches and a bunch of Ace badges, but he's still ambushing noobs down on Tier 2. Come 'on.

I'm not saying we can't all play down tier, but that seems excessive.

Point is, very rarely do stats tell the whole story, and they matter even less.

I'm close to 4,000 games and I still own the first tank I picked in this game and I play it at least once a day ... partly because I love the Province map.  Some times I pull out my Ltractor just because I know I can not get Mali ... well I have much better odds of not getting Mali.

Your post seems excessive.  Hate?  Really?  If somebody enjoys the game at tier 2, then so what.  We dont have access to the numbers, but i really dont think the lower tiers are filled with the kind of clueless noobs everybody seems to think.  Stat-padding is a WoT myth just like kill stealing and making the cap clock go faster by destroying the supplies.

My stats honestly are poor. I make no excuses. However they have improved dramatically since finding the forums and several guides. What I find distasteful at times are the self serving forum posts....ie. my k/d is 2.1 and my DMG is 2.4, is that good.... If they want a pat on the back then they should go talk to mom

My stats could be better if I wasn't playing most of the time with a Vodka I.V. stuck in my arm. Oh who am I kidding...they would suck regardless. lol

Stats are just a guideline on how a player does on average. They shouldn't account for a player's overall skill though, since you have to factor in common sense.

That being said, I couldn't give a damn about a player's stats, as long as he knows his role on the team and doesn't die stupidly within the first few minutes, then it's fine by me. :teethhappy:
My stats probably suck (never check really), as long as I can deal death in my Tiger II, I'm happy. :blinky:

I’m a brutally honest person and must say regarding my stats: I’ve had my StugIII as high as a 57% win rate but I don’t think it’s truly reflective of how well I am with it--infact I know it’s probably due to knowing where to go with the StugIII and having that tier six L/70 as a gun. So those high numbers don't extend onto my game performance. That being said, I don’t think the low win rate percentages I have with the Tiger II are truly reflective of how I do in that tank either as I usually place somewhat high with it but never seem to manage a team win when I do.

I tend to not make judgements based on peoples stats unless they themselves are making a big deal out of them, I usually look at mine and my friends stats to see how we're doing and see how we're keeping up with each other/if that night went well.

Though If I see people acting like tomatoes and playing like tomatoes that tell me they're good players and then I see they have tomato stats I can't help but antagonize them a little. (Although this is mostly based on repeat performances of seeing the same people in the same games in the same tanks over and over.)

Sometimes those are geat fun, i have a blast ramming my V/IV into a tank. I may die but at least i die laughing!

I love my V/IV.  That's my pressure release valve when I'm having a particularly crappy time grinding my tier VIII tanks.

You are so wrong it hurts. When ever I take my loltractor out to get the x2 off of it I am always top of the board. Ive gotten top gun in it a few times. If I wanted to, I could pad the hell out of my stats in it. 1 good tanker in a tier 1 game can easily win it. Ive had games with 12 kills in the beta with it. Stat padding isnt a myth. Neither is kill stealing. I dont belive in it most of the time but you will find people who dont fire a single shot untill its the kill shot. They hide behind you and dont do a damn thing until the tank is almost dead. Its always on my 7th or 8th kill that gets me mad about it. They do it some times to rob you of a medal. Some times trolling, some times Stat padding.  Most cases kill stealing doesnt exist but some times it does.

Just running a scout or arty can murder certain stats.
