Hey guys! I felt a bit inspired to write something and I just came up with a small guide for those people who don't know some early research on some tank modules to avoid painful grinds. This is mostly from tier 4 and onward.

American tanks:

- Researching the T21 will unlock the Ford GAA engine on both Sherman M4A3E2/8s. You save 11,000 xp.
- Researching the T25 AT or T25/2 will unlock the Ford GAN engine for the T20 and T21 in which this is the Top engine for it. You save 11,500 xp.

- It is recommended to get the 90mm gun on the M6 if you plan on getting the T20.

- Researching the M103 unlocks the Continental AV-1790-5B(Tier 9) on the T54E1. You save 25,000 xp.
- The M44 shares both engines with the T69 in which are upgrades for it. Stock engine of the M44 is the Continental AOS-895-3 in which you save 9,500 xp.
- M3 lee and T40 share top engines.
- M7 and M4 Sherman share all engines.
- Going through the M3 lee will unlock the second to last gun(75mm M2) on the M7 saving you 1,500 xp. +3,600 xp from top engine (Wright Continental R-975C1) and gun(75mm M3 L/37) if you fully upgraded it.
- Researching the T54E1 unlocks the Pershing, T25 AT and T25/2 top engine. You save 10,500 xp.

- Researching the T30 unlocks the Continental AV-1790-3 for the T54E1 and T29. You save 19,000 xp.
- Researching the M48A1 Patton unlocks the Continental AV-1790-70B for the M55/53. You save 31,000 xp

British tanks:

- Researching the Cruiser II unlocks the 2-pdr Mk. IX on the Medium III. You save 300 xp.

- If you plan on going all the way to the Centurion 7/1, I would recommend that you get the Caernarvon fully upgraded from the Cruiser I first. Then go for the Centurion 7/1, due to all of the guns and engines that carry over to that line.
- Researching the Crusader will carry the top engine on the AT-2. (Nullified Liberty Mk. III) You save 1,100 xp.
- Top engine from the Crusader carries to the AT-8. (Nullified Liberty Mk. V)
- Top engine from Caernarvon carries to the Tortoise. (Rolls-Royce Meteor M120)
- Conqueror and Centurion 7/1 share top engines. (Rolls-Royce Griffon)
- FV-207, Centurion Mk. 1 and Caernarvon both share the same engine (Rolls-Royce Meteor Mk. IVC)

- Researching the FV-207 unlocks the Cromwells top engine (Rolls-Royce Meteor Mk. IVB)

- Both the  Crusader and the  Crusader 5.5-in. SP share both engines.

***UNCONFIRMED***
- Researching the ConquerorGC unlocks the top engine for the Caernarvon (Rolls-Royce Meteor M120). You save 27,000 xp.

German tanks:

- Owning all the VK 30.01 H packages will help you on most of the mid-tier heavy, medium and light tanks (VK 28.01 and Auflk. Panther which haven't released yet) because you will have the Konisch, 7.5 cm L/70 & L/48, and the 10,5 cm L/28 derp. All of which can be researched on this tank.

- Fully upgrading the VK 30.02 M carries top engine to the Jpanther I & II, Panther I & II and the JadgTiger.

- Researching the Jpanther carries the Maybach HL 210 TRM P30 engine on the VK 30.02 M. You save 11,250 xp.
- Researching the Nashorn unlocks the 7,5 cm L/70 to the Stug III. You save 4,600 xp
- Researching the Tiger II from the Panther will unlock the 8,8 cm L/71 on the Panther II and the Tiger I. You save 16,500 xp.
- If you own the Top package of the E-75 but don't have the package that has the top engine (Maybach HL 234 TRM P45) on the E-50 researched, this will carry over to the E-50 like it used to. You will still have to get the Maybach HL 234 TRM P30.
- If you own the Top engine on the E-75 (Maybach HL 234 TRM P45) this will carry over to the E-50. You will still have to get the Maybach HL 234 TRM P30.

Soviet tanks:

- IS-3 shares top engine with the ISU-152. (V2-54IS)
- The T-34 and KV-1S both use the same 76 mm gun. (S-54)
- The T-28 and T-34 both get the same 57 mm. (Zis-4)
- The T-34-85 uses the same 85mm as the IS does. (D5T-85BM)

- The IS/IS-3 use the same 100 mm as the T-44 gets. (D10T).
- Researching the SU-152 unlocks the top engine on the KV-1. (V-2K) You save 5,100 xp.

- KV-1 shares the 122mm with the T-34-85. (U-11)
- Researching the SU-85 unlocks the V-2 engine. You save 1,250 xp.

- It is recommended to get the IS-8 fully upgraded if you plan on getting the ST-I due to the fact that none of its previous guns from the KV-4 carry over.

- SU-101 and T-44 share the V-2-54 and V-54-6 engines.
- Both the T-34-85 and the SU-100M share top engines (V54k)
- KV-2 top engine (V-5) carries over to the T-150.
- Kv-1s top engine V-2IS carries over the the KV-3.

- It is recommended to have your IS-1 fully upgraded before you play the KV-3.

- T-54 and SU-122-54 share both engines.

French Tanks:
- Researching the 90 mm F3 gun on the ARL 44 saves you from having to get it on the AMX 13 90.
- Maxing out the ARL 44 gives you the ability of having most upgrades for all the following tanks after it up to tier 8.
- Getting the 100mm SA47 on the AMX 50 100, saves you from having to get it on the Lorraine 40t.
-  Both AMX AC mle. 46 and AMX M4 45 share top engines (Maybach HL 295)

- Foch and AMX 50 120 share top engines (Saurer).

- Having the Maybach 230 P 45F engine on the ARL 44 saves you from having to get in on the  AMX AC mle. 46.
- Top engine on BDR G1 B and ARL V39 share top engines (Renault T14).

- Researching the BDR G1 B unlocks the 75mm SA32 gun on the AMX 40. .You save 800 xp.

***UNCONFIRMED***
- Researching the ARL 44 unlocks the M1A1 gun on the M4 Sherman and T1 Heavy. You save 4600 xp.

- Reseaching the M48A1 patton unlocks the Continental AV-1790-70B(tier 10) for the Bat. -chatilon 155 55. You save 31,000 xp.

Early researches that DO NOT WORK:
- Researching the Conqueror does not carry unto the Centurion 1s top turret (Centurion Mk. III).
- Researching the Gw E-100 does not carry unto the E-75/50s top engine (Maybach HL 234 TRM P45).
- Ford GAA from M4A3E2/8 series do not carry to the AT-7 due the engines being slightly different.
- 6-pdr Mk. III from the Valentine and Crusader does not carry over to the M7 american tank.
- Tank destroyer guns do not apply for early research for any other tank classes like mediums, heavies and lights.

Don't forget the Carny's final package Type B barrel carries onto a few of the Centurion starter packages and certain TDs.

... I think.

Thats why I mentioned that I would recommend going through the Carny before hitting the Centurions

The T69 also shares engines with the M44 I think. Don't remember exactly how much xp that saves you though.

True, they share engines Continental AOS-895-3 and Continental AOS-895-5. Saving up 9,500 xp +18,000 xp if you already researched the Continental AOS-895-5.....

What about adding that the T54E1 stock engine is the Pershing/T25 AT elite engine?

Edit—And the T25/2

I know it's pretty obvious to all us on the forums, but maybe add as a newbie tip that all of the TD and non-TD guns are separate. For example the Tortoise 120 mm is different from the Conqueror 120 mm, or the M103 120 mm is different from the T28 120 mm.

Thank so mush, this is great info. I wish I had this when I started playing WOT. I also have two questions. I have T95 and working on the last upgrade and I see I can bypass 155mm gun and buy T110E3.

If I buy T110E3 do I get the last gun for the T95 free or a discount? What would you guys do.

Unfortunately, you can't. The T95s top gun counts as the 155mm AT gun T7 whilst the T110E3 gun is the 155mm AT gun T7E2 with much more ROF and accuracy. Same thing applies for the whole T30/T110E4 deal. However, the 155mm AT gun T7 carries to the T30 if you ever go down that line.
