I like that.

And why may I ask do you like that?

And for extra trivia on the white house, this is currently the third, the first burnt in the war of 1812, the second was renovated due to deterioration and the current one is actually a bunker inside the shell of the second.

Let's try to keep it to a discussion of the history gentlemen. A lot of brave men and women died during most of these events.

no disrespect to their lives, but remember, they died many many years ago, noone really pays much attention to them anymore.

Fixed your downvote, because you are actually correct.

Most people don't know what happened a month ago, never mind over 200 years ago.

lol, evidently a few military fanatics do care, if you want to sit and say "oh these people that died so long ago are important, you should respect them for dying for your country" and i do, but there's no need to force people to talk about them.

Also, you have to remember this, this is a multinational community.

In the same timeframe, we had the Napoleonic war and the Seven years wars (You know, those major wars that affected how the world is today?). Chances are, other countries are going to remember their heroes and fallen.

Also, American history is dull and short. We have thousands of years of warfare to salivate over. You guys have a petty 400 or so years.

Choose your words carefully because if it weren't for our military history you would be speaking German right now. And most of the bloodiest battles in history involved our military history.

very true, americans are not the only ones who speak english., therefore the historical events that happened here may not apply to all, so why talk a about just them? why not talk about EVERYONE's historical events and not just our own? the patriotism is ridiculous these days...

WWI, had up to 400,000,000 casualties, and america did not cause one of them. all they did was support the allies.

I don't know about you but the Americans I know get a real trigger itch when some tart starts talking about how he is happy that the white house burned and that our military history is dull and pathetic.

I love comments like this. They are so poorly thought out, and seem to forget it was a World War. Argentina? Produced the nitrates required for fertilisers and bombs.

Honestly, that argument is stupid. Germany did not want the British Empire to fall, as they view us as the worlds' peacekeeper.

Also, in WWI, you guys just took our stuff and did nothing about it, other than claim victor status. Germany surrendered due to the British blockade of their ports, starving the country.
