it WAS and inslut and it was VERY low of you. we are not perfect either, you know what war does? it boosts economy. so you know what we, the great amercans, do when our economy is low? we start wars. we arent exactly the greatest country either.

Stating we were 600 years behind and still won, is not an insult unless personally taken that way, it is not how I meant it in the slightest. If I wanted to be rude I can say far worse, but that is not my intensions.

The french took the brunt of the british navy, without them, we would have gotten crushed. Plus we got lucky, a lot, in fact. Do you have any idea how easy something as mixing up one lamp and two lamps is?

Yep, it was a proxy war between France and the UK.

Probably about 200-300 years, as it was not long after 1066 that we started attacking Europe again and then there were the Crusades which showed the global power we had.

Didn't you guys have your king TAKEN FOR RANSOM!?!?! During that crusade to show your might???? What did it cost again to get him back???

well i cant personally take it that way if i wasnt on the loosing side now can i? the point is, what he said was a fact, what you said was also a fact, but also a very crude and immature insult masked in fact.

I love comments like this. They are so poorly thought out, and seem to forget it was a World War. Argentina? Produced the nitrates required for fertilisers and bombs.

Honestly, that argument is stupid. Germany did not want the British Empire to fall, as they view us as the worlds' peacekeeper.

Also, in WWI, you guys just took our stuff and did nothing about it, other than claim victor status. Germany surrendered due to the British blockade of their ports, starving the country.

I thought Hitler killed himself instead of surrendering.

I'm sorry. I had no idea that the British empire ceased to exist. It's not like the sun never sets on British soil or anything even now.

Over 1000. At least 2000 years of warfare. Like the rest of Europe.

Also, you can thank American influence for the constant depressions that crippled our empire in the 30's and 50's.

About 200 years, actually. Funny that.

Try longer, after rome left you had 200 years of building to do and Norman and Saxons, so not even close.

I have no clue. We had a large period of history where two factions just kept killing each other for the throne, that didn't end until the 1500's. We've had so many of the dammed things nobody knows how many we've had.

It's even harder to guess when you take into account the Pre-English states like Wessex, and Scottish kings/queens.

Honestly, it's a nightmare to keep a track of, 2000 years of warfare. That meagre 400 years of history works very well in your favour there.

If you check my profile information, you will know exactly why I like that.

You're from quebec, right? I knew a lovely woman (the love of my life) from there and she told me all about how Canadians burned down the white house or something?

. . . :izmena:

My AP U.S. history teacher had a very good quote from the beginning of the year: America is like a rebellious teenager. It didn't like Mom's rules, so it moved out. It made a lot of mistakes, and it tried it's best to make them up. It very nearly tore itself apart, but yet we always managed a comeback, but in the end, we pretty much grew up to become just like our mother.

R.I.P. Lucky the cat, (2-24-14) you magnificent bastard.

Odd, seems they keep pretty good track of it, seeing the current higher ups and long ago ken, also a still intact monarchy.

When you take into account the technology available at the time, and the fact the UK didn't actually exist as a single entity until around the 1680's, it is only 200 years.

We were not 1 nation totally either just 13 colonies banded together.

you said, and i quote "600+ years and you still got handled. LOL" now tell me, does that sound like you are rationally stating "but you had 600+ years of warfare knowledge, so how did you lose?" it was a very immature way to say it, and sounded VERY much like something a child would say to another.
