E-100

The E-100 is the end of the first German Heavy line. It comes at the end of a line that has an evolving play style throughout, ranging from supporters to assaults. However the E-100's role is clear: beat other tanks up at arms length. With the highest alpha of all tier X heavies, arguably the best sidescraping potencial, and adequate mobility, what's not to like? Let's take a look at the E-100 in detail.

Recommended Equipment/Crew Skills (First 5)

Gun Rammer/Vert. Stabs./Vents or Gun laying drive or Spall Liner

Sixth + Repairs + BiA + Preventative Maintenance + Smooth Ride

The equipment is fairly standard of what you should have been using throughout the whole of the German Heavy line. The last equipment module is down to personal preference. Vents improves everything , EGL gets the aim time even lower, and the spall liner because arty is just annoying as hell. The Crew Skills are also fairly standard and you should have 5 by this point. Maintenance because the transmission is located behind the lower plate and engine fires are common. Smooth Ride to get the aim time down.

Firepower

+ High alpha, best in class

+ Fear factor, many tanks will back off when they see an E-100 with a 150mm

+ Very, very good HEAT round

+ HE rounds are a viable option, doing ~300 damage upon impact.

- Low-ish pen can be rather annoying

- Annoying aim time, the gun takes a while to dial in

- bad accuracy. Long range shots are very difficult. The shells will stray.

The E-100's gun is a quintessential Heavy Tank gun. It is a close range, knife-fighting gun. The E-100's gun does not allow for effective sniping and needs to be close. The alpha rivals tier X TD's and will two-shot all tier VIII's and three shot most tier IX's. The pen at 235 is on the low side, however you should be close enough to aim for weakspots anyway. The HEAT rounds are fantastic. At 334 you have more pen than all tier X TD's AP rounds. HE derping is also a viable option if you're at long range/failing to pen and will deal around 300 damage upon impact, unless you're shooting at the gun mantlet of an E3. When the HE pens a waffle, or the rears of other tanks, the damage rolls are hilarious for a heavy tank, easily reaching 1000. However AP should be your primary ammo.

Survivability

+ Very high HP, second most of all tanks in the game. (Behind the Maus)

+ Very thick all around armour. Extremely well sloped on the UFP

+ The king of sidescraping. Sidescraping is the bread and butter of this tank

.

- Very large and very weak LFP. Engine hit zone behind it, you'll take engine damage and catch fire from frontal penetrations.

- The turret, while sloped, is very prone to TD guns, and even tier IX gold rounds will pen the turret face when unangled

- Huge target, easy-mode (arty) loves you and will prioritize you

- Turret weakspots still hit and penned even when angled

The E-100 lives and dies by angling. When this tank is angled it is a very tough nut to crack. The trick is to not only angle your hull, but your turret as well between shots. Gold will pen your turret, and when people see an E-100 they will load gold and fling it at you. You have the HP to eat shells to start a push. The E-100 can take a hell of a beating as long as you are angled. Sidescraping is this tanks best friend. However, you are not invulnerable. To shoot, you must expose your vulnerable turret cheeks, and even when angled the periscope and the "police bar" are easily penned. Arty also loves this tank. You are relatively slow, thus easy to lead, and you will be clicked on when spotted.

Mobility

+ acceptable top speed

+ You're not a T95

- Slow acceleration

- Hills kill any speed

- You turn like a boat, and your turret even slower

The E-100, while not quick, is deceptively mobile for such a colossus. You have a decent top speed, however it does take a while to reach that speed. Any incline kills your speed and you're too fat to be pushed by friendlies. You're easily circled by mediums, and some more agile heavies. The mobility is good enough to get into place before you get cut off, and allows you to not be too far away from the major engagements. However, if the base is threatened, you will have to go back early before you get outcapped.

Compared to the Field

+ Very high alpha

+ Solid armour from the front

- Huge target, always targeted first by easy-mode

- Lackluster pen, horrible sniper

Summary

The E-100 is a unique heavy, as it's the only "true" heavy. It shows up to the fight and takes a beating, however it deals one hell of a beating back. In the hands of good drivers the E-100 is a game changing machine, and can change the outcome of a flank once in a sidescraping/hulldown position. However arty and high pen TD's will ruin an E-100's game, as the armour and angling means nothing to ~400 pen TD gold rounds and to HE splash from 600 metres away. The E-100 is a niche tank, but in its niche, no-one can withstand it.

Oh, and if you snipe with the E-100, you need to uninstall.... Now.

From what my friends have told me, it may also be worthwhile taking a spall liner and controlled impact? The weight of the tank means even the slightest nudge can cause tremendous damage. Especially down hill.

Though, I will say, putting your GT in the title was absurdly unnecessary. :p Aside from that, I did enjoy pretending to read it. I'll assume it was a great post! :D IGN 8/8 m8

Someone's got to pet me or else no one will... :sad:But don't let me get this too off-topic. I'm sure some people actually have an interest in playing the E-100 as I do... when the damn thing decides to go on sale.

Will you end up doing a review on all the heavies eventually?

I actually like this review on the E-100. When that thing becomes the next or future on track event I'll most likely end up going for it (Again. Had this mammoth tank in the beta).

On the ones I have, yeah. Currently the IS-7, E-100, and T57. I'm waiting for the on track to the 215B and the motivation to get the E5. I'm working on the AMX 50B, currently on the AMX 50 100 and ~130k from the AMX 50 120.

I snipe with my E-100s 15cm with AP and pen because weakspots are easy to snipe for me :3. Good review nonetheless but I will and always play my E-100 as that guy that likes to ram stuff and doesnt give a damn and still survive in the end. I still shoot my gun out of the fear factor but ramming is where this thing shines.

Your sniping skillz r 3 much 5 me. lol.

I can never build enough speed to ram effectively, only gently brush up against people for ~200 damage. I want a 13 90 to slam into my E-100 going like, 70km/h. lol

Very good review AJ. Not to mention my love for using HE in the E-100. Blast the IS-7 in the turret and any other tank hiding their weakness.

LIES!!  I can snipe with my E100 when I have to and HE has been known to do 7-1100 damage. Either number is hilarious.  Also, Optics.  I know it isnt peoples first choice for  heavy equipment but since TDs are a known issue you will want to be able to see what can and will be shooting at you. You also failed to mention how important it is to not be alone. 800 games has taught me this lesson the hard way. Other than that it was an ok review.

Good Job.

Need to mention NEVER use HE while face hugging unless you absolutely have to. You will knock your own gun out and if you are low enough on health you will die lol. Or so I read some where.
