Hello again tankers!

As we approach the anniversary I'm thinking about how the game took shape and where we want to take it.  One topic that stands out in my mind is Team Training so that's what I decided to talk about today.

When we started this project we had no time to add in all the modes and options that PC had and make anything close to our dates.  Team Training seemed like a no brainer to not implement.  There's no tank restrictions, matchmaking, progression, rewards, stats, medals etc.  On top of that it costs to repair your tank and resupply ammo and consumables you used.  While it would have been great to support a mode that let players learn maps and try tactics with friends, it would have been a huge development cost and bug farm at the time with not enough resources.

Fast forward to today and things are a bit different.  We have been using our own version of Team Training for development.  It's really bare bones and follows all of the rules laid out above.  I was thinking we could slap some paint on it, fix a few bugs and in a reasonable amount of time, with few resources, add it as an option in WoTX.

So I'd like to hear what you would use it for (as described above).  We have a very full plate of work, features and content for the year already so this would be sort of a low pri side project we'd do in between things.  The cool thing about experiments is they can turn into something wonderful and unexpected.

Things I can think of it being useful for:

  • Learning maps, practicing tactics, trying crazy stunts and just messing around with friends without all the competitiveness of a real battle
  • A way to organize battles against others\team for bragging rights (gentleman's matches)
  • Possibly a cool way to release new maps to this mode first for testing and feedback from a much larger group
  • The beginning of a way to set up governed tournaments
  • The beginning of a way to set up Esport competitions

Please don't take this as an announcement or promise of a new feature.  It's just a discussion of what might be possible and I'd like your feedback while I'm thinking it over.

See you on the battlefield.

So what you're saying is we should expect this in the next update?

If I could use it to try out a tank before grinding through the entire line, I would. Same with premium tanks.

Ah, I should have specified that.  Team Training can only support tanks you already own.  Server requirement.

I'm kind of disappointed that Training Rooms haven't received any prioritizing even thou everyone was begging for it, but at the same moment personally I'm happy it didn't.

This is World of Tanks and you can learn a map while playing it. While I agree, the training rooms could help to check the gun depression of your tank or best spots for your favourite tanks, its still too big project (and there I am agreeing with Pain) to be even considered. How many people will use the Training Rooms if they would be introduced? 5%?

In my honest opinion, instead of mentioning/considering the Training Rooms I would more like to see the Clan Wars. We need competetive gaming with clans.

While I can understand how Training Rooms received literally no prio, I can't understand how Clan Wars haven't been added two months after the game went live. We are one year already from the game premiere and there wasn't even any hint about Clan Wars. And only thing we get now is a thread from Pain about possible (but not confirmed) feature which will be smiliar to Training Rooms. Like are you serious there?

So to sums it up. I'm disappointed that community didn't received what they wanted, but I'm much more disappointed that Clan Wars didn't get the TOP priority at the first place.

That's my opinion.

I'd like to be able to practice against bots too but a bare bones training room is better than nothing.Learning maps in partiular is hard in a competitive game.

Personally, I'd start up public WoT classes on instructing people to better use their tank. (But also messing around a bit is nice too.)

There are three things that I feel are really needed for a training area:

  1. Learning maps with specific tanks.
  2. Trying out tanks I down have (I understand your answer that this can't / won't be done).
  3. Teaching / learning tactics

If it could be done without spending silver, that would be better (but as long as we know ahead of time... no problem).  But for sure, I'd want to be certain there would be no stat-impact.  That's about it from me.  Thanks for listening Pain.  It's pretty awesome that you do.

Um, to be serious though, I think this would be really neat. I like doing silly antics in games, and it would be fun to be able to drive around exploring.

As a suggestion as to possible features for this, would it be possible to enable game chat to extend to both teams? I could imagine wanting to have a private game of 5v5, where we're doing it socially and would want to be able talk to all of the people.

The main use I would use it for is learning the maps. Find out where all those tank stopping rocks are.

Testing where to pen other tanks, practicing angling and side scraping, testing out spotting mechanics, exploring maps. Tbh I'm not sure I'd use it a whole lot since there's no rewards and progression. When I switched controller configurations I tried out the new one in the current training but I quickly got bored and just went into battle even though I kept messing up the controls. I think it would be the same way with training rooms for me.

Can we have separate training room stats and possibly separate ribbons/rewards? It might make it more fun and encourage more people to "train" in the training room.

Training rooms would be great. I would love the opportunity to check out new maps without getting shot at, and I have a few friends who are new to the game, but are turned off by dying all the time. Having a private lobby to teach them the basics of the game would be great, and it would add a few more payers to the game who would have otherwise turned away due to not knowing how to play.

Need nao lol

Also wouldn't mind some kind of a competitive 15 vs 15 gametype, maybe like Company Battles. It seems a little less complex than Clan Wars, and it might not require as much work to impliment.

That being said, I would love to have Private Lobbies, Company Battles, and Clan Wars. I'm not sure if the game has the player count to populate all three yet, but anything to change pace from Random Battles.

One thin I think that should be considered, is the ability to add stationary targets ( mobile even better) and place them where we want. Of course this would mean that we choose the tank that is the target. Practice hitting weakspots etc.

Equality is a myth.

In order to ensure rights for one, you must destroy rights of another.

Actually, a bit of an off-topic question, but maybe PainGod has an answer.

Does anyone know if the Leopard 1 is going to get the PC RoF buff to 6.9r/m?

Deter boosting up the lines. It's not good to see those that don't have enough experience in high tiers
